I am honored and humbled by the trust that Denver voters have placed in me, and by our shared vision of a city where working people can put down generational roots.

@chrisFnicholson@RubinoJC@biculturalbrokr Agree, I wish there was more time also but in usual fashion of our Gov this bill has moved through the process so swiftly with so many changes it is difficult to have the conversation. It is not over, we may still have to reconsider after conference. I’m here to discuss.
@biculturalbrokr Because this bill originated from the Governors office I continue to have concerns we are being misled knowing that engagement by the administration has not been authentic with these communities and stakeholders that represent the interest of these communities.
@biculturalbrokr North Denver was gentrified in the name of development and with that came displacement including many of my family members and friends. There is an ugly history of these offenses and there is generational trauma for those of us who have been here.
@biculturalbrokr It’s like @AllenCowgill knows me or something. Unfortunately coming from a community in North Denver where my family has been for generations and where communities of color and low income communities have been promised things there is a great lack of trust.
@biculturalbrokr There are policies being held up right now that affirmatively address those issues but they have had a difficult path even with checking all of the boxes of stakeholding, making changes, etc. Policies that were moving through the process months before this bill ever hit our desks
@biculturalbrokr We have to tackle affordable housing in many ways and this is not the only way. We need actual anti-displacement, anti-gentrification policy like tenant protections to keep people housed.
@biculturalbrokr If you want to truly address affordable housing statewide through this policy then do that without carveouts otherwise you have to let communities decide what is best for them. Additionally there continues to be concerns with the definition of affordable housing in the bill.
@biculturalbrokr 1/? Always open to talk especially on policy. The bill still has more of a process to go through, it has to go back to the senate where it will likely end up in a Conference Committee and the House will need to take it up again in whatever form it comes out if there in.
