ST. JOHNS RIVER CLEANUP RECAP: Seminole County Environmental Services thanks all the volunteers who helped clean up litter during the 2026 St. Johns River Cleanup this past Saturday.
Across three sites, the community collected nearly 90 bags of litter, along with larger items like a shopping cart, tires, a broken beach chair, and more.
This effort helps prevent trash from reaching our waterways—protecting water quality and wildlife.
Missed the cleanup? More volunteer opportunities are ahead, including planting native shoreline vegetation. Visit the Seminole Education, Restoration & Volunteer (SERV) Program to learn more and get involved ➡️ https://t.co/EOqaBxNdsm

Yay for our @Paylocity volunteers! This morning we had a great time removing invasive coral ardisia along the Soldiers Creek mountain bike trail (~20 bags). This invasive plant outcompetes native plants and disrupts the balance of our local ecosystems. #volunteers#biodiversity
Today we had an awesome event removing invasive plants along Kewannee Trail with Maitland Scout Troop 205! We removed 14 bags; this work will help to reduce the spread of these harmful species and protect #biodiversity. Great job, @boyscouts! #SERVSaturdays@seminolecounty
Seminole County and its partners remind residents that small choices on your lawn can help protect the water we all share. Local fertilizer rules are designed to reduce runoff and support healthy lakes, rivers and springs across our region.
Take a rain check when heavy rain is in the forecast, keep fertilizer off pavement, and make sure you are using the right product for the season.
