When Dems have a nearly supermajority in the legislature, they tell voters not to use the USPS for mail ballots.
In Utah, with a GOP supermajority, Republican elected officials like @lghendersonutah stupidly tell voters to use the mail. 🤷🏻♀️😩
@carobmarcelle I voted in person. Had to show an ID.
Vote by mail, no ID needed.
My signature that some rando will grade, vs some warehouse of signatures that I've evidently signed somewhere, my penmanship is what determines if my vote counts or not.
You can measure the greatness of an American officer by the last two words he ever spoke into a telephone.
On June 28, 2005, four U.S. Navy SEALs were trapped on a jagged mountain cliff in the Hindu Kush of Afghanistan, surrounded on three sides by dozens of enemy fighters firing rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns.
All four Americans were bleeding. Their radio was blocked by the towering granite walls of the canyon. The only way to get a satellite phone signal to call a rescue helicopter for his three wounded brothers was for twenty-nine-year-old Lieutenant Michael Murphy to leave the cover of the rocks and walk out into the open.
Walking into that clearing meant walking directly in front of fifty rifles.
Murphy did not order his radioman to go. He had already been shot in the stomach. He pulled the satellite phone from his vest, stepped out from behind the boulder, and stood tall on the exposed rocky ridge where the sky was clear.
Bullets kicked up stone dust all around his boots. He dialed the number for headquarters at Bagram Air Base and calmly gave the exact location and number of his men.
Halfway through the call, a bullet slammed straight through his back.
Murphy dropped the phone into the dirt.
Under fire that would make any mortal man crawl away, that twenty-nine-year-old from New York reached down into the blood and dust, picked the satellite phone back up, put it to his ear, and finished giving the coordinates for his team.
Then, with his lungs filling with blood and his life ending on a mountain seven thousand miles from home, Lieutenant Michael Murphy spoke his final words on earth to the operator on the line:
"Roger that, sir. Thank you."
He hung up, walked back to the rocks, and picked up his rifle to fight beside his brothers until the end.
In the code of the samurai, grace under the blade of death is the highest mark of a noble soul. Even while dying to save his men, an American gentleman remembered to say thank you.
Why is early voting so important?
Imagine that 1 million Texas democrats voted early & almost no Republicans took advantage of early voting.
Not only would we go into Election Day with a deficit of -1 million votes,
but what if there were a catastrophe on Election Day i.e. running out of paper ballots?
Republicans would overwhelmingly be harmed by something going wrong on Election Day because we have more voters trying to vote on 1 day.
We would lose a senate seat, the governorship, & House seats across the state.
I do believe that the Republican Party’s embrace of early voting this cycle not only helps to counteract any “blue wave” narrative, but it will ultimately help mitigate potential election fraud.
🚨 LISTEN: Texas, the world is run by the people who SHOW UP.
Arizona and Georgia learned that the hard way.
Republicans stayed home, and both states ended up with TWO Democrat senators.
That can happen here.
James Talarico once called capitalism an "OPPRESSIVE SYSTEM" and talked about "DISMANTLING" it. Now he wants you to believe he's a proud capitalist.
He's not running as who he really is. He's running as whoever he thinks will get him elected.
If Texans know the truth, there's no way he wins.
Early voting ends October 30th. Election Day is November 3rd.
Don't let Texas turn into California. VOTE.
Utah Republicans pushed this nonsense on us about a decade ago.
The system includes “signature matching”.
The problem is both TYpe 1 and Type 2 errors. They screen out THOUSANDS of seemingly legal voters for penmanship. There is a “cure” process IF you started early enough. Thousands don’t complete that process and their vote is tossed out.
It‘s absurd. All to goose “participation rates.” Chasing the wrong objective function.
The Utah GOP sucks.
We are constantly told that universal mail-in balloting is totally secure…
I’ve always said that is inherently absurd, especially in nursing homes.
But we just ran into a new issue here in Southern California…
3 ballots were placed in my in-laws locked mailbox by a post office mistake!
This kind of thing must happen fairly regularly. There is effectively/virtually nothing to stop us from casting these ballots.
How can anyone take this system of voting remotely seriously?!
🤔😱🤦♂️🤷♂️
