The Republic of Ireland delayed their pre-match press conference before Sunday’s UEFA Nations League game against Israel in Hungary, amid calls from campaigners to boycott the fixture over the Israel-Gaza war.

The delay came after players held a meeting to discuss the match, with reports suggesting some wanted to withdraw.

UEFA later said the press conference would be moved to the team hotel, but no new time was confirmed.

Presiden Prabowo Subianto menegaskan bahwa dirinya paling hormat dengan para pakar.

Menurut Prabowo, ucapannya kerap dipelintir, sehingga seolah tidak menghormati pakar.

Hal tersebut Prabowo sampaikan saat bertemu 22 pakar terkait mitigasi kebakaran hutan dan lahan (karhutla) di Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Kamis (24/9/2026).

"Jadi saudara-saudara, jangan salah ya menerima, kadang-kadang saya kalau bicara di audience, suka dipelintir ya, dibilang seolah saya enggak hormati pakar. Saya paling hormat sama pakar," kata Prabowo, dalam tayangan YouTube Sekretariat Presiden, Jumat (25/9/2026).

Prabowo menyampaikan, dirinya berhasil sebagai perwira TNI di masa lalu adalah berkat pakar.

Dia pun memohon diberi masukan oleh para pakar mengenai pencegahan karhutla dan penanganan lahan gambut.

"Enggak bisa apapun, saya. Kenapa saya berhasil sebagai perwira? Karena saya selalu cari pakar. Anyway, jadi mohon saya diberi masukan, what can we do supaya tahun depan kita, sudahlah," ucap dia.

"Jadi, sekarang saya sudah perintahkan, sudahlah kita antisipasi, jadi ternyata tadi saya dapat laporan kemarin ya, dengan segala macam helikopter apa, tetap yang paling efektif adalah petugas di darat," sambung Prabowo.

Prabowo pun meminta saran dan masukan dari para pakar, apa yang harus pemerintah lakukan supaya karhutla tidak terjadi lagi ke depannya.

Dia turut meminta agar pompa dan embung sudah dibuat jauh sebelum kebakaran terjadi.

"Jadi bagaimana, saya minta masukan dari saudara-saudara, what we have to do, soal mitigasi fisik kita lakukan ya. Pemadam kebakaran harus siap, enggak ada, jauh sebelum kebakaran bikin embung embung embung embung. Belum ada kebakaran bikin pompa pompa pompa, siapkan semua itu. Nah, tapi dengan gambut, kalau bisa ada jawaban ilmiah, a scientific, a scientific solution," imbuh dia.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan defended the Mecca Alliance against criticism that Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia were its “first test.”

Fidan compared it to NATO, asking former U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye James Jeffrey how many times NATO’s Article 5 had been invoked. After Jeffrey answered “only once,” Fidan said it was unfair to judge a new defense alliance using a 10-year conflict as evidence that it does not work.

“Nobody criticizes NATO as a paper tiger. But when it comes to a newborn defense alliance, they point to a 10-year crisis in Yemen and say, ‘Look, this is not working.’ We have only just started.”
