@LoopandPixels Hi

[Seun @Seun766]

Because sending money and hoping for the best shouldn't be a project management strategy. 😭
What's the biggest thing you'd worry about if you were building a house from abroad?
#FixTrust #PropTech

[Seun @Seun766]

Imagine paying someone to build your house in Nigeria while you're living in another country.

How do you know what's actually happening at the site? 👀
You get pictures on WhatsAp? In a world where deep fake is as cheap as paper.

[Seun @Seun766]

This is the problem I'm exploring with FixTrust.
how do you keep track of everything?

All the evidence provided would be through the app no forging evidence.

The idea is to bring the important parts of managing a property project into one place.

“What does this screen actually need right now?”
Good API design isn't just about making requests work.
It's also about making the amount of work being done make sense.

[Seun @Seun766]

Your UI shows 20 items. Why is your API returning 10,000?
This is one of those architectural decisions that could be overlooked when you're building a small application.

Here's what I mean, imagine a projects page.
You only need to display 20 projects on the current screen.

[Seun @Seun766]

A paginated request is more intentional:
GET /projects? page = 1&limit = 20
Now the server returns what the current view actually needs.
This isn't about blindly adding pagination to everything.
It's about asking a simple question when designing an API:

[Seun @Seun766]

This is the mobile experience I’m currently designing around that idea.

[Seun @Seun766]

What if managing a property in Nigeria from another country felt more like tracking an order?

That’s basically the idea behind FixTrust.
Instead of
How far has the building reached?
Did they actually buy the materials?
Is anyone even at the site?

[Seun @Seun766]

“What exactly did my last payment cover?”
You should be able to open an app and see what’s happening.
Projects.
Progress.
Site updates.
Payments.
Documents.
Location.
Messaging.
Everything in one place.

[Seun @Seun766]

But this is one of those projects where the more I think about the problem, the more interesting it gets.
Would you trust someone to build your house from 5,000 miles away?

[Seun @Seun766]

I’m building something I actually want to see exist.
FixTrust is an idea I started working on to solve a problem that keeps coming up when Nigerians abroad want to build or manage property back home.
The annoying part isn't just finding someone to do the work.

[Seun @Seun766]

It's knowing:
Did they actually do it?
Where is the project?
What's happening right now?
What was paid for?
What's been completed?
So I'm working on a system around verification, tracking and transparency.
Still early.

[Seun @Seun766]

I'll just read the documentation real quick.”
Documentation:
3 pages of introduction
7 prerequisites
14 configuration options
2 deprecated examples
1 GitHub issue from 2022 saying “this doesn't work”
Me:
Maybe I don't need this feature. 😭

[Seun @Seun766]

POV: You finally fixed the bug.
You stare at the screen for 30 seconds.
“What was actually wrong?”

I have absolutely no idea.
But you're not touching that code again.
The bug is dead. That's all that matters. 😭

[Seun @Seun766]

Why does code become 10x more difficult when someone is watching you write it? 😭
Alone:
*types confidently*
“Yeah, easy.”
Someone says:
“Can you show me how you did that?”
Suddenly:
const... uhhh...
“Wait.”
“Why is this even working?”
“Give me a second.”
😂

[Seun @Seun766]

Sometimes I genuinely don't know if I'm debugging the code or discovering a new ecosystem.
What’s the smallest change that has ever caused the biggest problem for you?
#Programming #SoftwareDevelopment

[Seun @Seun766]

What is the most dangerous sentence in software development?
“I’ll just make one small change.”
30 minutes later:
Why is the navbar broken?
Why is authentication broken?
Why is the database angry?
Why did changing a button somehow affect something I wrote 3 weeks ago? 😭
