Around 1 a.m. in Ontario, Canada, 18-year-old Aeron McQuillin, 17-year-old Bailey Campbell, and 15-year-old Billy Tarbett, who had gone out for a late-night snack, came across a woman stranded on the side of the road after her car had broken down, and she told them she could not afford a tow truck.

Instead of continuing on their way, the three teenagers decided to help, and with the woman steering they began pushing the car by hand, moving it nearly 7 kilometers down the road toward her home over a trip that took more than 2 hours.

Another driver eventually stopped and followed behind them with headlights and hazard lights on for safety, and even as hills, exhaustion, and a dead battery made the work harder, the boys kept going until just after 4 a.m., when they finally pushed the car into the woman’s driveway.

Nobody gave the order for the families of Misawa Air Base to march.

When a 70-year-old boat captain tried to bow to an American airman in gratitude, the young soldier covered in black sludge refused to let him bow.
