For the record, the screaming here comes from the fireworks, not the people. These are whistling "strobe screamers," and every one lets out a high-pitched shriek as it rips into the sky. The humans behind the camera stick to "Oh," "Nice" and one very sincere "Damn."

#5: Broad daylight on a rocky desert hillside. A tape-wrapped shell sits on top of a pole, and it tears off into the clouds leaving a trail and a scream behind it.

#4: Nightfall. A glowing projectile streaks up out of the dark, spitting sparks and wailing the whole way.

#2: A wrapped rocket-style tube gets lit up close and launches in a jet of sparks, zig-zagging and shrieking, and then a shower of orange sparks lights up the ground. Cue the "Damn."

#1, THE WINNER: An orange-capped tube strapped into a pipe-and-stick launcher. It fires at dusk in a blast of flame and smoke, then lets loose the longest, highest scream of the whole countdown as it climbs into the darkening sky.
