Do Priests Get Paid?
Yes, diocesan priests receive a modest salary, as well as room & board. The salary isn't large, but it's sufficient for personal expenses, such as clothes, car, charitable giving, & other normal expenses. Black clerical clothes are a sign of a modest life.

Don’t try to discern your vocation alone, without the help of the Church. Talk to a sister, brother, priest, or deacon you trust.

“Brothers and sisters: Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus/ were baptized into his death?
We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death,/ so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead/ by the glory of the Father,/ we too might live in newness of life. If, then, we have died with Christ,/ we believe that we shall also live with him.
We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more;/ death no longer has power over him...” (Romans 6: 3-4, 8-11)
It is impossible to discover your vocation without good information. What does it mean to have a holy Christian marriage? What do priests do? What is it like to be a religious sister or brother?
Search for good information online, then take what you have learned back to prayer.
6 Ways to Discern Your Vocation: #2 Sacraments:
The soul is the window through which we can see God and hear His voice. If the window is dirty because of sin, it must be cleaned through Confession so we can be in union with Jesus to show you your vocation.
6 Ways to Discern Your Vocation: #1 Prayer:
Prayer is a conversation with God–not just saying prayers, but speaking to the Lord from your heart. Ask Him to reveal His plan for you: “Jesus, I want to want what you want. Here I am, Lord; I come to do Your will.”
“Do this in remembrance of Me.” (Luke 22:19)
On Holy Thursday, we celebrate Jesus' Last Supper--the very first Mass and the institution of the priesthood.
Pray in a special way for all our priests, as they carry out Christ's mission and bring us the Eucharist every day 🙏
Join Archbishop Cordileone and the priests of the Archdiocese of San Francisco for the annual Chrism Mass on March 26 at 4:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption.
All are welcome!

Love all. Serve all.
Priests pour themselves out for the people of God every day. There are tough, stressful days and incredibly beautiful days.
With hearts full of love, priests serve the poor, visit the imprisoned, and counsel parishioners. They bring Jesus to all they meet.
Celebrating Holy Mass
Every day, priests hold in their hands God's greatest gift to humanity; the Eucharist. This "sacrament of sacraments" is life-giving nourishment for God's people and a sacrifice for the salvation of the world.
Change the world. Consider priesthood.
A Sign of Heaven.
Priests give themselves completely to the Bride of Christ, the Church. They embrace celibacy to show that real marriage--the one on which earthly matrimony is based--is the wedding feast of the Lamb! Celibacy is a supernatural sign that heaven is real.
"Lent is a time in which the Church invites us to place the mystery of God back in the center of our lives, in order to find renewal in our faith and keep our hearts from being consumed by the anxieties & distractions of daily life." - Pope Leo XIV
As we begin Lent tomorrow, here are some traditions to bring to your home this Lent!

Today is World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life! 🙏
Pray for those who are consecrated to God by the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. May they always reveal the love of Christ to those they encounter and continue to enrich our world by their dedicated lives of prayer.
