@commie_pope @FredSchmidt4 Yea, the theory makes sense but can’t be confirmed by the characters. The whole El ‘mind connection’ with Mike actually happened though, so the Mind Flayer being the source of their powers seems to either wrong or a oversight in the writing

Assuming Mike’s pitch to the group is correct, Kali created the illusion of El at the gate entrance. El also had the moment with Mike in that same scene. Both these things happening after leaving Dimension X where they killed what is believed to be the Mind Flayer
