The outfits in the first photo are wrong because the wearers are trying to communicate in a traditional design language, but they've gotten the language wrong.

In the second photo, you can see this design language better articulated. There are historical reasons why the outfits in the second photo make sense. This is what classic men's tailoring is supposed to look like.

In the third photo, we see a completely different design language. It makes no sense to impose ideas about "right" and "wrong" from classic tailoring onto this aesthetic, any more than it would make sense to correct a Japanese speaker using English grammar rules. It is operating in a completely different space.

Many people do not understand this basic concept in design. They simply want to think of the world in simple categories — this is absolutely right, this is absolutely wrong. They are unable to live with difference and nuance. This is the thinking of a child.

“Want” turns 17 today! 🎂

From my fourth album Come To Life, this song started out as a sweet love song, but with some help from Chris Martin, we turned it into something a little more sinister!🖤🎵

I loved how it turned out!

What I thought was going to be a REJECTION...

An entire patchwork carpet of Cyclamen hederifolium at Anglesey Abbey a few days ago, looking for all the world like spring. Today’s botanical dopamine for your brain 🌿:

My POV is not about making men look "hotter" or "trendy." It's not about designer labels or "flexing." It's about helping people find joy through clothes and celebrating craft. Too tired rn to do another thread about raw denim. But there are reasons why things cost what they do.

On 15 September 1977: J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion was published. Edited by Christopher Tolkien, the book details the entire history of the world before The Hobbit, and goes into the legends that underpin the entire mythology including the creation of the world.

Is it possible that the perception of clothing being outrageously expensive may have more to do with our shopping behaviors (53 new items per year) than real prices (which have remained functionally the same for 30 years)?

Now is the time to polish and waterproof your shoes for winter and get sole replacements if you need them!

"people with money shouldn't thrift" is not the leftist take you think it is. the most "sustainably made" dress will never be better on the environment than buying thrift??? everyone should buy second hand! only 20% - 30% of thrift stock ever sells, rest is donated to a landfill

[Shadadukal @Shada_tweets]

@CoraCHarrington Will go for millions IMO.

Starling feather. We have a local chattering group of starlings which swirl and swoop along the shoreline, but not enough for a true murmuration. One of them dropped a feather in a recent squabble. It shimmering like a jewel in the grass. I photographed it and made this bag.
