@NateForUtah On the bright side tho this is further evidence that the push against AIPAC and Israel is working. They wouldn't have to manufacture this much of a distraction controversy if people actually sided with AIPAC/Israel.
They're getting desperate which exposes them further
@FaZe_ExoDive@nikgeneburn Can't wait to be taken hostage by a group as a solo bc they knock you and refuse to kill/continually revive/knock. Just have to sit there and suffer lmao
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian Thank you for continuing to admit you're ignoring my other points. This convo is pointless atp. You're right, rents should always increase unending forever /s
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian Rents also can't just rise forever unending. If you rise beyond the areas median income you're gonna have issues finding tenants. That inherently calls for some amount of rent control, like income restrictions
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian And it doesn't restrict nearby apts from being built, im in i high cost of living area with lots of income restricted rents and lots without restrictions
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian I'm sorry you are ignoring the real world examples I have given you. If rent control was as bad as you and past studies claim, then income restricted housing would be causing issues, instead its helping house people that otherwise would be homeless because of market gouging
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian You can same the same about your dislike of rent control and claiming all rent control is bad! We've already seen housing markets survive income restricted housing so we know your not correct! Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its bad/wrong/doesn't work!
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian It can help. Obviously it stimulates demand, but the type of demand still matters. People being able to buy/rent that had been priced out before is natural demand. People wanting 4-5 extra homes is unnatural demand like scalpers. Notice how when you remove scalpers prices drop!
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian Thats why I moved recently. They were continuing to raise rents to the same amount the cities were at for their apts, despite not being in a city and having nothing around. If I'm gonna pay city prices I'm gonna at least live in the city, hence the move
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian I mean I'm not going to dox myself. If you don't believe me thats fine, but thats what happened. The city had no rules/laws regarding where the rental market had to be priced from and afaik the only state law is it has to be an instate market.
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian Its not like rental companies are barely breaking even or making tiny profit off renting. They make plenty to cover initial costs and maintenance but still price rentals way to high (my ex about apts being priced in markets dozens of miles away with entirely different conditions)
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian Except were also in a artificial shortage now and we see quality issues in places with little to no rent control. Which goes back to my point of too much rent control is just as bad as too little/no rent control. Both can lead to artificial shortages and misappropriation
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian I mean you can filter demand. Game companies do this to avoid scalpers that but up all a product to sell it for more. You can limit housing to 1 per person or couple and can absolutely limit the amount of total apts owned by a corp or person
@goldmarkovchain@JFPitre@neeratanden@BtechIberian That same issue still happens when rents are priced too high way beyond their actual value, like what we see now. People are forced to take roommates bc they can't afford a single bedroom on their own. So I don't see that as a rent control issue
