I’d like to write about the parallels between Mitsuri and Shinobu for a friend @afterosuilen_.

The most obvious parallel, of course, is that both are women, members of the Demon Slayer Corps, and Hashira.

Both share the experience of being labeled "weak" by parts of the fandom, which is complete nonsense; there is a reason why Mitsuri and Shinobu became Hashira.

Mitsuri possesses immense strength and can hold her own against Upper Moon 4’s Emotion, Zohakuten. She also plays a crucial role in the battle against Muzan, where every attack and every second counts.

Shinobu, on the other hand, kills her opponents using poison. She devised an entirely new method of killing, the only one to do so in a thousand years, and played a important part in the deaths of both Muzan and Doma.

Therefore, neither of them is weak.

Another similarity is that both put on a facade to please others or to honor a memory.

Shinobu always wears a smile because her sister loved her smile. She tries to fulfill her sister's wish of befriending demons, even though it goes against her own nature. She also adopts her sister's mannerisms. However, she reveals her true self during conversations with Tanjiro and in the fight against Doma.

Mitsuri once wanted to change her appearance and lose weight after being criticized by a fool; she felt ashamed of her huge appetite and her strength. Ultimately, she learned to accept herself before making the mistake of marrying someone for the wrong reasons.

Both are compassionate and care for others; they gave Nezuko and Tanjiro a fair chance during the Hashira meeting and were quick to trust them. They became Demon Slayers to protect others.

While Shinobu provides medical treatment and care for others, feeling both unimaginable rage and deep compassion for the victims of demons. Mitsuri looks after her friends and colleagues and enjoys cooking for them. She, too, harbors anger toward the demons.

Another parallel is that both Shinobu and Mitsuri struggle with self-doubt.

Shinobu has serious doubts about herself because she is very petite and unable to decapitate demons, which makes her feel inferior to her sister and other Slayers.

Mitsuri, on the other hand, represents the exact opposite. She questions whether it is acceptable for a woman to be so strong and worries about it.

Family was very important to both of them. They shared good, loving relationships with their parents and siblings. Another sad similarity is that both of them die during the decisive battle. However, both are reincarnated and go on to live happy lives free from demons.

Mitsuri and Shinobu like each other and get along well. For instance, Mitsuri introduces her to Western cuisine and confides her worries in her, while Shinobu lifts her spirits; the two share a strong friendship💜🩷.
