OK.
So to get this straight....
Ashes of Creation former CEO, Steven Sharif, bankrupted the company on purpose after 10 years having not put a SINGLE DOLLAR into his company.
AoC was spending $2.5M PER MONTH in burn in 2025, and $1M PER YEAR was salaries to himself and his husband throughout the duration of the project, but he wasn't keeping up with his mortgage on his home and was at risk of having the bank foreclose on his house.
In almost losing his house, Steven begged his 2 primary investors for money to secure a loan that he couldn't pay and put $1.3M into an escrow account for his home loan.
When AoC's track record of insolvency wasn't improving, the primary investor of Intrepid ($80M) said he was taking over and tried to make Steven the Creative Director with an earn-out plan. They were to lay off 50-70% of staff, but save the game/business.
Steven refused.
When negotiations failed, **STEVEN NOTIFIED THE BANK HOLDING HIS HOME LOAN OF THE INCOMING STEAM FUNDS FROM THE EA LAUNCH AND INSTRUCTED THEM TO WRITE A LETTER TO VALVE CLAIMING THE $3.7M OF SALES MONEY**
this did 3 things:
1) IT *TECHNICALLY FULFILLED* THE OBLIGATION OF "LAUNCHING" THE GAME TO BACKERS
2) Securing the funds RELEASED THE $1.3M from escrow of "personal money" that the bank was holding to secure his home loan
3) THAT MONEY WAS INTENDED TO PAY PAYROLL ON FEBRUARY 1. When the money vaporized due to the bank's claim, they had no choice but to close the business and send out WARN notifications. That's why it came so late.
Steven's "unethical board" was him refusing to take a step away from the control seat.
The letter to the bank bankrupted the company.
Steven Sharif literally caused Intrepid studios and Ashes of Creation to burn by his own hand and walked away from the business with literal millions of dollars in his bank account.
Holy. Fuck.
Holy shit.
Ashes of Creation/Interpid Studios just made an announcement that they are laying off every single employee and shuttering the doors on the studio inside of the next 24 hours.
Ashes of Creation is shutting down.
Wow.

Dear players!
We thank you for supporting the project throughout all stages of development and testing, and for deciding to share this important event — the release of #EscapefromTarkov — with us!
Despite careful preparation, unforeseen situations may arise during the process. Your bug reports help us quickly find and fix issues, making your gaming experience more comfortable and stable.
In the near future, we plan to expand the game infrastructure to reduce matching times.
We are already actively working on a number of technical updates aimed at fixing the following issues:
● Various issues when downloading Escape from Tarkov and EFT: Arena via BSG Launcher and Steam;
● Various causes of error 228 when interacting with traders;
● Various issues with incorrect lighting when interacting with traders.
We are also aware that with the Nvidia Smooth Motion setting enabled, some players may experience difficulties when launching Escape from Tarkov. We recommend disabling this setting for a smooth EFT experience.
We understand that this might not be the complete list of the issues that players are facing and the problems that are not included in the list will also be addressed with the upcoming patches.
In the near future, all players will receive in-game compensation: a Bear Classic and USEC Night Patrol set. If these sets have already been purchased, an in-game reward will be credited.
Thank you for your patience and support. Please continue to share your impressions and bug reports. Your feedback really helps us make the game better!
