So, why do Nikkei Asia says that 'India had a fairly decent start in Semicons in 1970s, long before Taiwan came into this space'?

Two reasons for it. And it goes against those who justify our pathetic performance of 60-70-80-90 using words like 'we had nothing to eat'.

1. In 1960s, Robert Noyce(founder of Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel; also known as Father of Semiconductor industry) came to India to set up Semicons factory. He chose India over East Asian nations.
But Nehru govt simply showed no interest by using policy hurdles and putting idiotic demand that Indian govt will tell them how much to produce. Robert Noyce saw through this stupidity, immediately packed his bags and took his factory to Hongkong.

2. In 1976, SCL Mohali was founded and it started producing chips in 1984. But it never became big as govt treated it like a PSU, controlled production, didn't allow to export and did zero to engage with customers. Then a mysterious fire broke out in 1989 in SCL and it collapsed. Govt did minimal to bring it back and it stayed shut till 1997(we lost the race till then). Govt tried to sell it in 2000s but no one was ready to buy it.
Taiwan TSMC started construction in 1987, full three years after SCL production and today is leader of this industry.
Modi govt in 2024, review SCL and have put 5000 cr to bring it back.

Hence, cry my beloved country, cry. This is how you were kept behind the world by Congress party. 😔😔

He was kept tied up and subjected to continuous torture, constantly beaten, kicked, and having his ears pulled violently… I hold the management, the owners and the principal responsible for this as well… When you monitor the CCTV footage daily, do not you have a duty to actually look at what is happening to the children?.. I want action taken against all of them because the management is entirely at fault here; they played a major role in this… The caretaker involved has been arrested, but the other teachers are not available; they have fled or absconded.
