Delve into Destiny 2: Monument of Triumph, a great update for a game which was abruptly ended.
Or should we delve into the physical media situation instead?
PlayStation’s Disc Backlash Just Hit French Politics, Now This Is Bigger Than Console Wars
French presidential candidate @JLMelenchon has spoken out against PlayStation’s move toward a digital only future, arguing that games are not just products to be controlled by storefronts, but cultural assets that should be protected by law. His warning cuts straight into the ownership debate, no disc means no lending, no resale, and no real guarantee that players keep what they paid for if access changes later. That is why this stopped being a collector issue and became a consumer rights fight.
The funny part is Sony probably expected gamers to complain, not politicians to start framing this as a legal and cultural issue. Once governments start looking at digital ownership, the industry loses the comfort of pretending this is just “the future” and everyone should shut up and accept it. Maybe Mélenchon is chasing gamer support, sure, but the point still lands, if games are art, culture, and media, why are players getting fewer rights than they had with a plastic disc?
Is this finally the backlash that forces regulation?
SONY.
WE BOUGHT THE CONSOLES.
WE BOUGHT THE GAMES.
WE BUILT THE INDUSTRY.
PHYSICAL MEDIA IS NOT OBSOLETE.
OWNERSHIP IS NOT OBSOLETE.
NO DISC.
NO BUY.
PHYSICAL MEDIA MUST STAY.

FUCK YOU PLAYSTATION!
FUCK EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR US PHYSICAL MEDIA COLLECTORS
FUCK YOU
FUCK YOUR ENTIRE DEPARTMENT OF BULLSHIT
WE DEMAND OWNERSHIP NOT A FUCKING LICENSE THAT CAN BE REVOKED AT ANY FUCKING TIME
The last week has been difficult. Please continue to focus on those impacted by the reduction in force.
The industry is in a scary place right now employment wise. Wishing the best to all who need it, and hope to help where possible.
Seeing Destiny 2 be stripped away it’s heart & soul hurts.. The devs impacted by the layoffs played such a critical role in making this game as special as it was.
I don’t want Destiny to end, and every day the reality of the situation keeps slapping me on the face. The rollercoaster of emotions from dooming to coping to hopelessness is unfair.
I don’t want to see these devs, the DNA of current Destiny, go. I don’t want to see Destiny, my game for years, go.
This really sucks & makes me want to give up.
It’s time to say thank you.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all the devs at Bungie who poured their heart and soul into this game and this community. Destiny is one of a kind. We are forever grateful.
To some of the higher ups, we have a different message. But we’ll save that for another day.
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers.

REPORT: Sony’s “revenge” narrative on Bungie likely comes from lower-level PlayStation employees, not informed leadership at Sony🚀
✅Decision to cut Destiny 2 support is purely mathematical as the game cost more to run than it made
✅While Bungie underperformed, Sony is not punishing them or blaming them for other live-service failures (like Concord)
✅Despite the drastic cuts to game support and hotfixes, there are zero plans to shut down Destiny 2 servers
✅It is a standard, financially-driven corporate decision, lacking the dramatic “cloak and dagger” conspiracy being spread online

Re: “Bug Bar”
As we get into our last string of hotfixes, the team is trying to squash as many bugs as possible. You’ll see some ability bug fixes next week, and a slew of other things touched in a later update, but we are nearing the final delivery of patch notes.
Some issues may not be addressed due to “risk” and live on. Here are some of the questions we’re asking ourselves in Traige as we process your reports: could a potential fix break the game further? Can’t take it.
Could a change/nerf enjoyment of the PvE game for the sake of balance? Likely won’t take it unless it’s egregious or trivializing buildcrafting. As an example, Truth is a bit too hot, leading to a handful of guardians just… standing around and shooting rockets without a thought in the world. No mods, no buildcrafting. Just toppled raid bosses. We can get a tiny ammo backpack nerf in to at least have folks worry about picking up some bricks during DPS, but we don’t want to crater the thing.
What if an armor set looks a bit buggy? While we hate some rough edges impacting your style, we may not be able to address it as a rushed fix could tarnish your looks even more.
What if Hunters are 1-shotting opponents in pvp? Let’s try to get that addressed asap, tested, and released.
What about the Titan Bubble or Stackening trivializing all of our endgame difficulty content? Let folks have some fun, but get it patched up before final.
SRL ties feel a bit frequent, can we tune them? Well, if that breaks placements do we have time to revert the change? What about a few months down the road, what if we regret making the change because it’s leading to worse experiences with various connection qualities? Leave it as is. 4 way ties are a bit wonky… but kind of fun!
Players don’t like a pvp mode in rotation, can we change how often it appears? Likely not - folks may need it for triumphs, or we’re seeing more players playing it than players vocally frustrated by it. It’ll rotate out after a few days. Leave it be.
There are many, many convos like these happening daily. Team’s doing everything it can to address your reports while setting up for the long haul.
After our final patch (TBD), you may see backend server maintenance for general upkeep, but any patch vehicle will be restricted to severe issues like widespread crashes.
If we find gnarly crucible balance issues or “1-shot the pantheon boss with little investment” builds, we’ll likely lean on disabling items, abilities, or whatever the culprit is for the problem at hand. It’s not the best solution, but we have the levers to keep things a bit stable.
The finality of all this is a bit rough to get into, but wanted to set expectations appropriately. We aren’t going to turn a blind eye to your reports. May be limited with what we can do, but we’ll still try.
Please do not hesitate to continue reporting issues to our help forums over on https://t.co/TWFNLn7XlP.
Thank you all for joining us for MoT. The team was overjoyed with seeing your reactions, videos, art, stories, and love - and many have been loving the moments shared with you in-game.
Not all of us are public facing. Every so often, you may have a D2 dev team member emoting you a hug or a heart after overcoming a rough Nightfall boss and you don’t even know it! Whether they’re an employee or just a community member… show ‘em some love with your favorite emote too.
Appreciate you, always. See you out there.
💛
I think what @Sony is struggling to understand with #Destiny2 is that most of us didn't want to stop playing.
We stopped playing because the people in charge at Bungie were making horrible decisions and (in my opinion) intentionally sabotaging the game.
After seeing how much was planned, how much was denied, how many things were done that leadership outright threw out/refused... it feels on purpose.
It feels like after the sale the leadership just didn't give a single shit and were just waiting for their deal to mature so they could get the bonus and leave.
If the game had been good it would've maintained 100k+ players constantly. Looking back, again, it feels like it was sabotaged by a few spiteful individuals in charge.
Hopefully they see this as a "Oh, maybe we should continue SOME development" or "Hey, D3 makes sense"
Everyone needs to keep being loud on socials. Keep telling Sony/Playstation directly that they were lied to, it was bullshit, and the game's worth keeping.
Let them know the leadership lied, inflated numbers, and then sabotaged the game by not caring.
Maybe it'll do some good.
