🚨Roy Keane on Kobbie Mainoo after his performance against Sabah FK:
“Manchester United need to be very careful with academy players because you cannot allow one manager to decide their future. We almost lost Kobbie Mainoo last season because a manager decided he didn’t fit his plans. Imagine if he had left and started producing performances like this somewhere else. United would be sitting here again paying £100m to bring their own player back, just like Pogba.
I honestly struggle to describe Mainoo anymore. His performances have been exceptional. I can’t remember the last time I watched him and thought he had a bad game.
And today, we saw another side of him. Those passes coming out of nowhere, the ability to defend, carry the ball and create something in attack. He’s not just the future of Manchester United anymore. He is already the present.
Put someone like Tielemans or Baleba beside him and, honestly, I think opponents will start worrying before the game even begins. This boy is special.”
🚨🗣️ Michael Carrick on his first game in charge of United v Man City in January:
"It was a special day, I have to say. It was a very special day. It's in the past. It's parked. It's there. It's a nice memory, of course it is. It was one of the good days.
But we move on quick and I think the boys will take a bit of confidence from it and a bit of belief.
And obviously the emotion and the feeling of the day and what it takes to win but we're not looking back too much - it’s a whole new game, a whole new occasion, a whole new situation and we’ve got to make the most of it."
🗣️ Lisandro Martinez when asked who’s his favourite on the @CBSSportsGolazo show:
“Thierry Henry”
Jamie Carragher to Lisandro: “What about the defenders? Defenders look after defenders.”
Lisandro Martinez to Jamie: “I watch quality players” 🤣💀
I keep getting this feeling that our season properly starts when Amad, Baleba and De Ligt are back.
Those three give this team so much right now, on and off the ball.
- Amad brings the unpredictability and versatility.
- Baleba gives us energy and dynamism in midfield.
- De Ligt adds quality and stability at the back.
Their return changes how we press, how we defend and how we play.
