๐ฅณ On my 28th birthday, I am sharing 28 of my life lessons to date. Whilst these are personal to me, I hope some will resonate with you!
I have certainly not perfected all of them. Whilst awareness is one thing, taking action is always the most difficult
Enjoy! ๐บ๐ฝ๐ญ๐ง (thread)
Great anecdote here from Scottie Scheffler in preparation for this weekend's Masters tournament.
"Golf's something I do, it's a tremendously huge part of my life, but it doesn't define me as a person."
Your worth transcends your job and occupation.

If there is one thing that #WorldMentalHealthDay is for, it is to remind us all that everywhere we go, we will be brushing shoulders with people who are fighting battles we canโt see. And while we cannot fix that, how we interact and connect with people matters more than we think. Just one interaction can shift someoneโs trajectory for the rest of the day, or even longer.

Good to talk through things inside and outside of football, and the relationship between them ๐ง
Bruno Guimarรฃes: "I've never heard many footballers talk about this, but when I started playing on a real team, I thought I sucked. I used to get so worked up the night before football that Iโd have stomach pains and start throwing up. Iโd get a headache and a fever sometimes and wouldnโt be able to fall asleep. When I played, instead of playing free, I worried about messing up. Whenever I played a real game, it was like my heart was always beating faster. It was a psychological block.
Then, when I was 11 years old, I was playing in a random game in the sports hall, and I didnโt think anyone was watching. Of course, since I was playing for fun with my friends, I was a beast. I didnโt realise, but my coach, Mรกrio Jorge, was watching from behind the bar with all the older guys. After the game, he walked out onto the court and he said, โBruno, let me ask you a question. Why do you never play like this in a real game?โ
I said, โI donโt know, Coach. I donโt feel comfortable. It's complicated.โ
He said, โListen, donโt worry about all that. Just play like itโs for fun, and see what happens.โ
I had a conversation with my dad after that, and I told him the truth. I asked him to stop putting so much pressure on me when I played, because it was making me too tense. When itโs your hero pushing you, sometimes itโs too much. Thank God, my father took it really well, and from that day, everything changed.
When I played, I would tell myself, โHey, itโs football. Just play like weโre using flip-flops for goals.โ"
