It is not difficult to understand, then, who had been preventing the FIR from being registered all this while.

Sahil Lochab now walks around half-blind with over 200 metal pellets still inside his body, some next to his heart, three that destroyed his eye. His only crime? Joining a protest against paper leaks. And when he and his mother try to file an FIR, Delhi Police treat them like the criminals.

Nineteen days of silence from Amit Shah. Zero words from Modi. The Home Ministry that lectures the country on law and order suddenly can’t explain why its forces turned a student march into a shooting gallery.

This isn't crowd control. This is state-sponsored maiming of an entire generation, followed by a cover-up so shameless that the Leader of Opposition has to personally drag the victim into a police station just to get a complaint registered.

If this is how you protect "the future of India," then the future is already under fire and the people pulling the trigger are sitting in South Block.

Registering an FIR for a cognizable offence is not a favour that the police may choose to grant.

It is a statutory right of every citizen and a mandatory duty of the police under Section 173 of the BNSS, 2023.

Yet the Delhi Police has avoided registering an FIR in the Sahil Lochab pellet injuries case - because doing so will lead investigators straight to whoever gave the orders to shoot the students, and potentially implicate their boss/es.

He filed a written complaint on 14 August. No FIR. He followed up on 17 August. No FIR.

Today the Leader of the Opposition of India had to sit on the floor of a police station with him and his mother. Still no FIR.

This is a cognisable offence. Registering an FIR is not a favour - it is the law.
