Today, I was pleased to attend the launch of the ‘Discover Darjeeling’ tourism app at the State Guest House in Siliguri.

This initiative marks an important step towards showcasing Darjeeling’s breathtaking natural beauty, rich heritage, and diverse tourist destinations to a wider audience. Through this app, tourists will be able to explore various tourism circuits, access essential information, and plan their journeys more conveniently.

By leveraging modern technology, we aim to make tourism in Darjeeling more accessible, efficient, and visitor-friendly. I am optimistic that this initiative will open up new opportunities for tourism development and further strengthen Darjeeling’s position as a preferred travel destination.

#MamataDisruptsDurgaPuja

I was present at a press conference organised ahead of the 42nd Siliguri Mahalaya Road Race, scheduled to be held on 10 October under the initiative of Baghajatin Athletic Club.

This year, the event holds a special attraction with the presence of former Sri Lankan cricketing legend Chaminda Vaas. During today’s press conference, the race jersey was unveiled by him. On the auspicious occasion of Sharadiya, he was also felicitated with an idol of Goddess Durga as a mark of respect and appreciation.

This prestigious road race has been an integral part of Siliguri’s sporting tradition for decades, inspiring generations of sports enthusiasts. Sport is not merely about competition; it instils discipline, perseverance, self-confidence and the values of a healthy lifestyle. I am confident that initiatives like this will further encourage the younger generation to embrace sports and contribute to enriching Siliguri’s sporting heritage.

May this glorious 42-year legacy continue to strengthen the sporting spirit and culture of Siliguri. My best wishes for the grand success of the event and for every participant to find renewed inspiration, determination and success through this celebrated competition.

I was pleased to be present at the inauguration of the construction work for a new bus stand at Paribahan Nagar, Matigara, in Darjeeling district.

The new bus stand will help improve the local transport system and make daily travel more convenient for the people. It is also an important step towards better infrastructure and public facilities in the area.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Anandamoy Barman was also present at the programme.

I am hopeful that this initiative will bring better connectivity and positive changes to the transport system of Matigara, making travel easier and more comfortable for the people in the days ahead.
