Flat Earth Proof #5: The Stars Are Close

I'll get into the scientific proofs in a second, but right now, you need to get in touch with your 'bullshit detector' and activate it, if you haven't already.

The human eye is not capable of seeing 'hundreds of thousands of miles', let alone millions, billions, trillions, or 'quadrillions.' These numbers are so vast that the human mind is not even capable of understanding what they imply.

Angular Resolution Limits of the Human Eye

Your eyes see in a huge circle around you, and the limit of what your eyes can resolve is '0.02 degrees.' This is the limit of where your eyes can determine if two separate objects are one or two (one or two headlights on a long road, e.g.)

Even if you arbitrarily assume the size of stars is massive, the purported size of 'stars' at millions, billions or even quadrillions of miles would be like you being able to see an atom with your normal eyes.

In other words, not possible.

"But The Light From Stars Is Very Bright"

This is the last gasp of your common sense trying to reconcile what authority figures taught you.

But it's easily proved false.

The Inverse Square Law of Light indicates that the intensity of light decreases at the square (much faster) than how fast we can increase the distance. In other words, if you double the distance to a light source (a star), the light would become four times weaker.

Double distance: Light 4 times weaker
Triple distance: Light 9 times weaker
Quadruple distance: Light 16 times weaker

Get it?

Even if you believe the fantastic story of a sun 93 million miles away, the math still doesn't add up, as Dave Weiss demonstrates dramatically in the attached video.

What This All Means

You were taught nonsense in public schools by good people that were also taught nonsense.

While this doesn't technically prove the shape of the Earth, it does prove that the stars are closer than you've been taught.
