GBA has launched the Greener Bengaluru Campaign, a community-driven tree plantation initiative to build a greener, healthier Bengaluru.

🌱 Resident Welfare Associations and community groups can identify suitable locations for tree planting in their neighbourhoods. Our officials will inspect the sites and plant saplings in partnership with local residents. The campaign will run from 15 August to 15 September.

🚻 Bengaluru's public toilet infrastructure needs urgent attention.

A B.PAC audit of 142 public toilets found:

❌ 26% non-functional
🚰 Water in only ~40% of functional toilets
💡 Only 56% adequately lit
♿ Just 9 toilets had ramps
🧼 No soap dispensers or dustbins

B.PAC has called for 1,000+ new public toilets, along with better maintenance, accessibility and accountability.

Public toilets are basic civic infrastructure not a luxury.

Such enforcement drives are being conducted to preserve the city's aesthetics and prevent the misuse of public spaces.

​🚜 NHAI has launched a week-long demolition drive to clear illegal encroachments along a 2-km stretch of the NH-48 service lane near the Sathuvachari Collectorate in Vellore.

​🛑 Commercial establishments, eateries, and roadside shops had extended their structures by up to 1.5 metres into the 7-metre-wide carriageway, creating bottlenecks that trapped government town buses and ambulances during peak hours.

​🛠️ #NHAI crews are removing concrete pillars, metal rooftops, extended steel beams, and illegal structures built over closed stormwater drains on the Chennai-bound service corridor.

Bengaluru: Five people have been taken into police custody after a group allegedly attacked GBA officials during Safe Footpath campaign in Shivaji Nagar.

Bengaluru Development Minister @krishnabgowda said alleged main instigator, Basavaraj Pudukote, will be arrested soon. Police will invoke Section 307 (attempt to murder) against all those involved.

The minister said the attackers were "anti-social elements" & warned that strict action would be taken against anyone assaulting public servants on duty.
