Last night, I made a simple request on X. I asked if anybody visiting Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day would stop by Alan’s grave and leave a photo for our family.
What happened next honestly caught me off guard.
By this afternoon, dozens of Americans from all walks of life had made the walk to Section 60 to visit SSG Alan W. Shaw. Veterans. Families. Complete strangers. People who had never met Alan, but chose to honor him anyway.
For one day on social media, people put aside the constant noise and negativity and came together for something bigger than themselves. My notifications filled with photos, kind messages, prayers, and stories from people honoring not just Alan, but so many of our fallen heroes.
I don’t think people fully understand what moments like this mean to Gold Star families. The fear is never just losing them. It’s losing them slowly over time as the world moves on and fewer people remember their name.
But today showed me that Alan will never be forgotten.
After years of watching social media reward some of the worst parts of humanity, today gave me a reminder that the good is still out there too.
Thank you to every single person who stopped by to visit Alan today, said his name, shared his story, or took a moment to honor the fallen.
This right here is the America Alan knew and loved enough to fight and die for.
And today, y’all showed us all that it’s still here and it’s still worth fighting for. 🇺🇸
I genuinely don’t think we appreciate just how hilariously unhinged and completely on point this administration’s social media teams are. 🤣
The official U.S. Army account casually dropping “Fort Liberty Biberty” in the middle of a post about combat readiness is absolutely sending me.
Ooops, Busted! If we caught you sitting down and scrolling while watching 🏈 football, go give our Soldiers at Fort Bragg (not Fort Liberty Biberty anymore) a like.
Comfort zones have no place in large scale combat operations, our teams train for reality, not convenience, and the results speak for themselves.
You know, there is absolutely no question in my mind how incredibly proud Charlie would be of Erika right now. Not just for what she’s accomplishing, but for the faith, grace, and conviction she’s demonstrating while carrying his legacy forward. I hope she never doubts that for a moment. ❤️
Charlie often warned against “wearing the costume of the holy.”
Invoking God or quoting Scripture means little if our fruit doesn’t match. But how do we discern what is truly of God, and what is simply dressed up to look holy?
That question was at the heart of my message today at @LibertyU, a place special to both Charlie and me.
Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits.” Are we growing closer to Christ, becoming more truthful, humble, loving, and forgiving, or are we letting anger and noise pull us away from Him?
Charlie understood the importance of living his faith through his actions. He challenged people, listened to those who disagreed with him, and devoted his life to building something bigger than himself. That is the kind of fruit I hope my children see in me, and that others, whether they agree with me or not, might see as well.
@salis333 Oh no… That’s way too much to deal with all at once! I’m sure she completely understands when I say I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck today.
I could sure use some prayers this morning, y’all…
My sister in Christ and I were involved in a serious car accident last night. Thankfully, she’s been released and made it home, but I’m still in the hospital.
This has been a pretty significant blow for both of us, but my heart especially hurts for her. She’s already living with a disability, and she does what she can to make ends meet by driving for Lyft to bring in a little extra money. That car isn’t just transportation for her. It’s one of the few ways she has to supplement her income and maintain some financial independence. Now, through no fault of her own, she’s facing the possibility of losing that income at a time when she can least afford it.
I’m incredibly thankful we’re both still here. God was watching over us last night, and I’m trusting Him to see us through our recovery and the uncertainty ahead. I’m especially praying that He makes a way for my sister when she needs it most. 🙏
Several of y’all reached out after my post about the accident and suggested starting a fundraiser for Joan.
She’s my best friend, and knowing what she’s facing financially after losing the car she depends on to supplement her disability income, I decided to take that advice.
I wish I could do more for her myself, but I’m hoping that together we can help ease some of the burden.
If you’re able to give, even a little, it would mean the world to both of us. And if you can’t, sharing this and keeping her in your prayers would be just as appreciated.
If X Money is easier for you, please feel free to use that instead. I’ll personally make sure every dime goes directly to Joan.
Thank y’all from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

Thanks, Andrew. That means the world coming from you. This interview gave us such a beautiful glimpse of the woman you and the TPUSA family know beyond the headlines and all the noise. Her faith, her grace, and the care with which she is stewarding Charlie’s legacy left me with even greater admiration for her. I sincerely hope she knows how deeply she is loved and respected. ❤️
