One complaint put a man and two women through criminal proceedings, but the allegations ultimately failed to disclose the ingredients of #Section509IPC.

The male accused had already fought his way to the High Court and got the proceedings quashed before the other accused received similar relief.

For men facing criminal accusations, that is the bitter reality: an allegation can start the prosecution, but proving that no offence is made out may still require a battle up to the High Court.

The Court observed that in conjugal life, both spouses are expected to maintain mutual respect, share responsibilities and contribute to the welfare of the family.

For an educated and earning wife, routine contributions toward household expenses and ordinary family responsibilities do not, by themselves, constitute “cruelty” under Section 498A IPC.

A husband in Greater Noida filed a police complaint after discovering that his newly married wife was in a five-year same-sex relationship with a woman from Ghaziabad and left home with jewellery to live with her.

Shortly after their marriage, the husband found out about his wife's long-term relationship.

The wife reportedly confessed that she loved a young woman from Ghaziabad for the past five years and wanted to live with her instead of her husband.

The husband claimed his wife threatened him and left the house taking family jewelry along with her to join her partner.

The aggrieved husband registered a formal complaint with local authorities, and the police are currently investigating the matter.
