The BET Awards eligibility period is from March to March (so in the case of this year - they were judging who the BEST RAPPER was from March 2025 until March 2026)

I agree if you’re just judging it by sheer output of music between March 2025-26, Kendrick didn’t release enough music to deserve the award.

But if you broaden the scope and ask who had the biggest moments, who was on top for the longest throughout that period? Undoubtedly it’s Kendrick..

- Highest grossing rap tour of all time (stadium tour at that)

- 13 weeks at number 1 of billboard with Luther

- GNX was the HIGHEST SELLING RAP ALBUM OF 2025.. even though it dropped in 2024

- His features with Clipse, Playboi Carti, SZA, and Baby Keem made noise all through this time period

So if it’s not Kendrick - Who deserved this award more, for their contributions to rap music in 2025? J Cole? Don Toliver?

In 10 years from now, when you think back to 2025, what rapper will first come to mind?

For example in 2008, first rapper I easily think of is Lil Wayne - he deserved this award that year

In a decade you gonna be thinking of Don Toliver when it comes to who was at the top of rap in 2025?
