This was filmed at Animal Shelter in Springfield, Illinois on a Tuesday afternoon.
The man is Glen, 50 years old. A high school shop teacher from the north side of Springfield. He came to Animal Shelter on his lunch break because his daughter had been asking him for months to at least go and look. He told himself he was just browsing.
Just getting it out of the way so he could honestly tell her he had tried.
Glen spent about twenty minutes in one of the meet rooms with a three-year-old brown mixed breed named Hector. Hector had been at Animal Shelter for seven months. He had been returned to the shelter twice. The notes in his file said he was too attached.
Followed people too closely. Didn't do well with being lett alone.
Glen sat on the floor with Hector. Let the dog climb into his lap. Scratched his ears. It was pleasant.
Normal. The kind of interaction Glen figured would happen.
Then Glen stood up to leave.
Hector went straight up with him.
Not barking. Not jumping in the usual sense. He climbed. Both front legs wrapped around Glen's midsection. Face pressed hard into Glen's chest.
Completely quiet. Just holding on.
Glen stumbled back a half step. Looked down.
Hector looked up at him.
The shelter hallway went completely quiet. The staff member near the door told us she stopped moving.
Glen tried to lower Hector gently. Hector pressed in harder.
Glen stood there for a long moment. Then something in him changed. His shoulders dropped. He sat back down on the floor with Hector still attached to him, both of them landing together.
Glen held the dog for a long time without saying anything.
Eventually he looked up at the staff member and said: "What do I need to fill out?"
He adopted Hector that afternoon.
Glen's daughter called the shelter two days later, laughing and crying at the same time. She said her dad, who had said for years he wasn't a dog person, was now sleeping on the couch with Hector on his chest because he didn't want to wake him up by moving.
The shelter coordinator told us: "Hector gets called too attached in every return note. But Glen didn't see a problem. He saw a dog who needed someone to stay. And he stayed."

Sixteen-year-old Corion Evans from Pascagoula, Mississippi, is being hailed as a hero after jumping into the Pascagoula River to save four lives in the early hours of the morning.

According to ABC News, Evans witnessed a car carrying three teenage girls plunge into the river around 2:30 a.m. after the driver mistakenly followed her GPS directions. As the vehicle began to sink, Evans immediately swam out and successfully rescued all three girls.

While helping the passengers to safety, a police officer who had entered the water to assist suddenly began struggling. Without hesitation, Evans swam back out and pulled the officer to safety as well.

Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley praised the teenager’s bravery, stating that without Evans’ quick and courageous actions, the situation could have ended in tragedy.

The inspiring story has spread rapidly across national media. Evans has been honored by local officials for his extraordinary selflessness, proving that one young person’s bravery can truly mean the difference between life and death.

The owner decided NOT to contact the police since they reportedly failed to arrest another group who stole from the restaurant in 2024.

Kaitlin Evans and two biological males presenting as women, Kirby Rankin and Nessa Keaney, were charged with murder after the child’s body was found duct-taped in a closet.

Detectives say the boy endured weeks of beatings, burns, choking, and water torture in the home where the three “co-parented” him.

Derrick Moore, a 47-year-old elementary school teacher and father of four from the Loganville/metro Atlanta area in Georgia, drowned on Friday evening, August 7, 2026, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after rescuing a young girl from a rip current.

He was on a trip (reports describe it as a family vacation) when he saw the girl in distress in the ocean after lifeguards had gone off duty for the day (typically around 6 p.m.).

Witnesses and authorities say strong rip currents were present. Moore entered the water near 4th Avenue South (some reports mention the area of 10th Avenue South) around 7:30–7:53 p.m., successfully pulled the child to safety near shore, then collapsed and was swept back out by the current.

Myrtle Beach Police, Fire Department, and the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a search overnight. His body washed ashore the next day (Saturday, August 8) near 11th Avenue South—roughly a mile or several blocks from the entry point—and was recovered.

The sad reality in today's culture is all the people that were standing within 50 feet of the ocean, were just filming instead of trying to help him.

He was trying to help a young girl and those people standing around filming, allowed him to drown in the undercurrents, his blood may be on their hands. Some people need to put down their phones and get involved in saving lives.
