The end state is removing the card entirely. Crypto users already have the ability to pay. If merchants can accept crypto or stablecoin settlement, most of card network becomes unnecessary.

Stablecoin cards are just a temporary bridge while we solve the remaining challenges of merchant acceptance, UX, and privacy.

Tried topping up OpenRouter with USDC from my Phantom wallet and kept getting "insufficient funds" with 25 USDC sitting right there and the invoice asking for 10.50.

Turns out my USDC was on Solana, while the payment link only accepts it on Base, Ethereum or Polygon. The error never tells you that.

@YaelOss Paying directly to an address can create payment-reconciliation issues. If a user withdraws 10.5 USDC from the exchange (which deduct a withdrawal fee), so the received amount is short $9.50. That can leave the payment stuck.
