On the occasion of #InternationalYogaDay DG @SujanChinoy led the @IDSAIndia fraternity in observing the 12th International Day of #Yoga . Scholars and staff members participated in the event with enthusiasm, reaffirming the enduring role of yoga in promoting physical well-being, mental resilience and holistic health, in keeping with the #IDY2026 theme- “Yoga for Healthy Ageing". It may be recalled that in September 2014 Prime Minister @narendramodi personally proposed the idea in his maiden address at the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Less than three months later, in Dec 2014, the UNGA officially adopted Resolution 69/131 with a record-breaking 177 co-sponsoring nations, designating June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. The inaugural International Day of Yoga was launched globally on 21 June 2015 through a massive event led by PM @narendramodi at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. It has since become India's gift to humankind- a true global patrimony.
