I have another cool piece of Baki history for you all!! 🌟

I recently got my hands on this special edition of Weekly Shonen Champion that was issued way back in 2001 to celebrate the release of the anime!

This is especially cool because it comes with character profiles, a blurb about the story thus far, never before seen promotional art (at the time) a sick looking poster, an interview with Itagaki about Baki and the Yasha ape, and much more!

At the time, WSC even held a giveaway contest where fans had the opportunity to fill out the form on the back, mail it in and possibly win exclusive Baki items such as figures, clothes and other merchandise. (Contests and lotteries like this were very commonplace in manga magazines back in the day!)

Reading through this magazine filled me with a sense of warmth and nostalgia for a time I never got to experience.

I get the vibe that this was a really, really great time to be a Baki fan. 🙂
