This weekend, I had the joy of spending time with some truly special little ones, alongside our partners at the Child Heart Foundation.

This initiative focuses on early screening of babies before birth to detect congenital heart conditions and ensure they receive timely treatment when it matters the most. Over the past year, it has helped save 18 young lives.

I had the chance to meet 10 of these children and their families. Seeing them healthy and smiling after everything they have gone through felt deeply personal. Listening to parents share their journey from fear to hope is something I will carry with me, and it reinforced how life-changing early intervention can be.

What stood out to me just as much was the role of ASHA workers. Their dedication on the ground, reaching families, building awareness, and enabling early diagnosis, truly makes them the backbone of such health initiatives in our country.

One moment I will always remember was taking the handprints of these little ones. A simple gesture, but one that captured the lives we have touched and the responsibility I feel going forward.

I feel grateful to the doctors, ASHA workers, and every partner who continues to make this possible. Experiences like these strengthen my belief that what we are doing truly matters.

Healthy women raise healthier families, build stronger communities, and drive more resilient economies. The ripple effect is undeniable. Yet historically, women’s health has been addressed in fragments, never as the complete, lifelong journey that it truly is.

Only 1.9% of women aged 30–49 have ever been screened. In rural areas, HPV vaccination coverage is as low as 1.1%. These are not just numbers. They are lives that could have been protected.

Which is why what happened in Wardha means so much to me.

Selected villages in Samudrapur Taluka have been declared India’s first completely cervical cancer-shielded villages. Under 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚’𝐬 𝐂𝐒𝐑 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐊𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐡, we partnered with the 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐲𝐚 𝐕𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐅𝐨��𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to bring free 𝐇𝐏𝐕 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and awareness to every eligible girl and woman between 9 and 26 years across these villages.

This was made possible by the quiet, relentless work of ASHA workers, anganwadi sevikas, sarpanches, and local healthcare teams who built trust, one family at a time.

I have always believed that when awareness, access, and community come together with clear intent, real change follows. Wardha is proof of that.

Grateful to the team at Swasthya Vriksha Foundation and to the entire district administration of Wardha for their support and guidance in making this possible. Also thankful to our CSR team at @Pharma_Mankind for driving this with commitment and purpose.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026 today, marking her ninth consecutive budget. What stood out to me was the clarity of direction it sets for India’s next phase of growth.

Positioning biopharma as a key pillar of India’s manufacturing and healthcare journey is both strategic and timely. As India’s disease burden continues to shift towards cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions, advanced therapies such as biologics and biosimilars will increasingly shape healthcare outcomes. Initiatives like Bio Pharma Shakti recognise that healthcare progress today is about more than treatment; it is about longevity, quality of life, and affordability, delivered at scale - supported by a ₹10,000 crore commitment to strengthen India’s domestic biopharma ecosystem.

I also see strong value in the budget’s focus on women’s education and entrepreneurship. The announcement of a girls’ hostel in every district, particularly for students pursuing higher education in science and technology, is a meaningful investment. When women are able to pursue education without barriers, the impact extends far beyond individual careers; it strengthens families, communities, and the broader economy. Initiatives like She MARTS, building on the Lakpati Didi programme, reflect a thoughtful pathway for women to move from livelihoods to sustainable enterprises.

Looking ahead, the real opportunity will lie in execution. If these priorities translate meaningfully on the ground, they can help Indian pharma move beyond scale towards leadership while building a healthcare ecosystem that is more inclusive, resilient, and globally trusted.
