@Kgalisto Eventually the EFL proved more successful than the poorly organised rival competition and Wednesday and Sheffield United joined in its fifth season. Sheffield Club bounced around several amateur leagues before joining the Yorkshire League after WWII. 👍🏻⚽

@Kgalisto This was a professional league (Sheffield had remained amateur) and mostly based around the train network in the west/midlands.

Wednesday (biggest Sheffield club by then) joined the Football Alliance, a rival to the Football League at that point.
