I have a friend who drives a Keke. He’s married with two kids, and honestly, he’s one of the hardest-working people I know. He takes his responsibility as a husband and father seriously.

Yesterday, he called to tell me his Keke had developed a fault and he hadn’t been able to work for three days. He needed some money to fix it.

I asked him to give me the full details. He said the repairs would cost ₦70,000, but he only had about ₦38,000 left.

He originally had ₦50,000, but because he had been unable to work, he had already started using the money to feed his family.

He was completely honest about everything. He even showed me the mechanic’s quotation and the list of things that needed to be fixed.

Knowing the kind of person he is, how hardworking he has always been, and how well he takes care of his family, I gave him the ₦70,000.

I told him to use the ₦38,000 he had left to get a few things for the house, fix the Keke, and get back to work.

My father called me last week and said he needed 500,000 naira urgently. He promised to pay back. My father is a man of his word, so I disturbed my emergency funds and sent it.

Just yesterday, he called me to come to the house immediately. I grumbled because I was far away, but I rushed down.

He presented land documents to me.

He had bought my first land for 2.4 million naira, in my name. He just needed me to come and append my signature.

He said he never wanted that land to pass me by, so he used what he had and got the 500,000 naira balance from me without telling me why.

Then he said something that broke me:

"Since after your secondary education, I have never really had the privilege to gift you anything. You even sponsored yourself through school because I was incapable. This is my little gift to you."

THE 'ARREST' OF COMRADE IBRAHIM MODIBBO SANUSI

The El-Rufai Support Group Association (ERSGA) has confirmed reports that Comrade Ibrahim Modibbo Sanusi was taken away at about 8:30pm last night (21st September 2026) in Kaduna by some persons alleged to be operatives of the Police Rapid Response Team.

Comrade Ibrahim Modibbo Sanusi @ModibboSanusi is the Lead Convener of The El-Rufai Boys Movement - a group affiliated with the El-Rufai Support Group Association (ERSGA).

ERSGA, by this update dutifully calls on the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police to ensure that the safety of Comrade Sanusi - in the case that he was actually taken away by the police - is guaranteed and his fundamental human rights protected, and in the case that those who took him away are not police authorities - to ensure that he is found and rescued.

We must state that, if any citizen - including Comrade Ibrahim Modibbo Sanusi - is suspected to have breached the law, proper due process must be transparently followed - including in investigation, invitation, arrest and detention and prosecution - if necessary.

We equally use this opportunity to respectfully call on the Kaduna State government to ensure that the rights of citizens of the state - including to freedom of expression and association - are respected and protected at all times irrespective of partisan political and other affiliations. That is what is expected in a democracy.

Finally, we urge every member of the El-Rufai Support Group Association, The El-Rufai Boys Movement - as well as - other affiliate groups to remain calm, restrained, peaceful and law-abiding.

We shall continue to monitor the situation.

BREAKING: Earlier today, His Excellency, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, was at the National Judicial Council (NJC) in connection with his petition against some of the judges handling cases involving him.

The petition raises allegations of judicial bias, denial of fair hearing and other concerns about the conduct of judicial proceedings.

It is important to remember that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai was granted bail by two Federal High Courts, albeit under stringent conditions, while the Kaduna State High Court outrightly denied him bail in the separate ICPC case, despite the allegations before the court being bailable offences.
