@williamcrawley I’m in Rwanda right now. What an amazing, clean, safe and beautiful country. As part of the healing process after the genocide the words Hutu and Tutsi were outlawed. ‘I am Rwanndan’ is everyones answer to ‘what are you’. We could learn a lot from them.
@BeattieDoug So I’m just saying- take a beat and remember the real people involved in this and the brutality of the killing. The rest can wait a day or two
@BeattieDoug Not sure how many of you were fans back then, but I was 15 and besotted with Fran O’Toole as were all my friends. His death and the massacre sent shockwaves through us in Ireland. I can still feel the sorrow we shared. Hearing how he was used for target practice near broke me.
@jk_rowling@lumos@JamesChiavarini I don’t need the dinner but I’d like to donate. I’ve spent much of this year in Africa voluneering in ‘boarding schools’. I hate the word orphanage as most of the kids have one or both parent but the parents have to go away to work. Kinship works but costs. Anyway- where 2 donate
@BeattieDoug Doug- think you’re great. That’s you are. Your dead doesn’t have an apostrophe. Really sorry and it’s not the point of course but it’s a pet peeve.
Who could have ever guessed that the guy who stared directly at an eclipse, thought injecting bleach would cure COVID, suggested nuking hurricanes and who wanted to rake forests, is the same guy who’s slapping tariffs on penguins? I’m fucking shocked!
@BeattieDoug Not as bad as the day I went to Twickers but a sound defeat. They’re absolutely football mad over here in Uganda! We brought footballs to the school we volunteered at and it was so exciting for the kids. Anyway thanks for responding. I’m off line again now for a few days
Remember when Kamala said, “I believe the reason why Donald Trump says the war will be over in 24 hours is cause he would just give it up.” Kamala was right. Rewatch every second of this.
@williamcrawley Nailed it William. Tragic. Travelling in Uganda today and we saw first hand the positive impact of USAID and the Peace Corps here. Its so hard to believe that these programs and people will be abandoned. Small volunteer organisations will try but never fill the gap
@williamcrawley I spent 6 weeks cleaning beaches in the Philippines and Thailand last year. The amount of plastic bottles was overwhelming. Plastic straws weren’t a huge issue because environmental awareness in growing over there. Why are we regressing? I just wish people could witness thedamage
