Practicing New Worlds by @dreanyc123 is on its way! 🎉🎉
“Practicing New Worlds develops concepts
from Emergent Strategy by applying them to the daily grunt work and the transformative imaginative spaces required to end prisons, borders, capitalism, and war" —@deanspade
"I am proud to endorse Soren With Ward 8 for Minneapolis city council. I have worked with Soren on issues regarding Police Brutality and in our conversations and friendship I have discussed with him many issues regarding environmental justice, health equity, and housing.
Hi! I'm helping raise funds for Minneapolis People's Pride. We need $2K to cover the event costs (permits, accessible porta-potty, food). It's such a special event! Can you help out? 🌈https://t.co/y7hBboPO50
🚨 endorsement alert! Let's come together to support Soren! Volunteer, donate, and if you're a delegate/alternate, vote to endorse this Saturday!

“I am thrilled to support Soren Stevenson to be the next ward 8 city council representative! Soren is smart, kind, and deeply knowledgeable. It’s time to make Minneapolis a national leader in housing and community safety.
One thing I’ll never get out of my mind, is that even as I rushed her off stage for her safety she kept repeating: “let’s make sure everyone gets out safe.”
Aisha was levelheaded. Aisha was strong. Aisha was clear-eyed. That is what Ward 10 deserves in their elected leader.
Mayor Frey is fighting against ways to protect renters while Mpls eviction filings increased 137% in 2022—the 3rd biggest increase in the US.
As always, his actions are firmly in line with his wealthy landlord donors and against working class people.
Rent control cannot wait.
And call out candidates who are backed by shady money! Not just on twitter, pleaseeee. In your neighborhood, at community events, in-person stuff. And remember that there are lots of ways to get good folks elected - doorknocking, calls, hosting events, volunteering etc!
I so appreciate Elliot raising this $ issue. I was immensely proud that back in 2021, our scrappy queer POC campaign raised a quarter million in grassroots dollars! That was part of what scared All of Mpls enough to spend millions against me (an open abolitionist!) and others 😈
New episode: Council Member Elliott Payne from Ward 1. In this clip, we take a phone call from a disgruntled listener & Elliott explains a local political dynamic he wishes more people paid attention to (the power brokers beyond city hall).

Don't get me wrong, it sucks that it takes so much $$ to run a campaign. Please ask candidates where they're spending your donations! Are they creating well-paying jobs for canvassers/staff who represent the community or are they just funneling it into consulting firms or ads...
Minneapolis neighbors: The city of MPLS & DeYoung Consulting are hosting "False Choice" "community meetings to gather input about "where" to put a new 3rd precinct. We say: NOWHERE!
They start with a biz-owner only meeting tonite. General public in coming days. More info in🧵:
We do not need a new precinct. We need truly affordable rental housing, free transit, healthcare, community schools, and more/
Check out the thread to give your input at the meetings, next one is Saturday at Roosevelt high school
We do not want your precinct here nor there - we do not want it anywhere.
If you'd like one (or a few) of these posters to bring to the upcoming "False Choice" mtgs, we'll have some Weds. 6pm @ Moon Palace Books where there happens to be a great event already scheduled... (3/🧵)
Looking for some inspiration and fuel for the ongoing struggles we're facing? @prisonculture and @MsKellyMHayes have a book coming out next month that is, as @astradisastra praised it, "a rich treasury of practical lessons and insights from organizers..." https://t.co/C4FhJZzulm
#HotChicksforHotMix is hands down my favorite council member & public works comms series of all time. Thank you @mitrajunjalali for both highlighting the city workers who are too often taken for granted and for giving me a serious licorice craving
Today the @cityofsaintpaul opens the asphalt plant to make hot mix that will patch up the potholes in our streets.
I’m in a truck with Mike from @stpaulpublicw to present to you what I’m calling #HotChicksforHotMix — follow along here

The 2020 block party to block the precinct was so great. I remember the art panels that visualized everything that could be built instead of a precinct ( housing, community centers, gardens, and more!). Guess we gotta do it again 🚫👮♂️🎉🫒
Minneapolis said today their two options for a new third precinct are the existing site or a vacant lot at 2600 Minnehaha. In Sept. 2020, the city was in negotiations to lease the building across from the latter but the owner pulled out of talks after protests and vandalism.
Check out the news roundup in the latest @interruptcrim newsletter. A very helpful overview of what's going on with policing & connections to resources for organizing! https://t.co/VKXIRYEHTO
Aright @LiberateMke@AARTMKE 🔥! Now what if we used our MPD budget toward, say, free transit? Education for young people on healthy relationships and consent? Housing? Free therapy? So many ways to keep the people of mpls safe instead of harassed, surveilled and harmed by MPD
Hopefully the media will ask about the contradiction - the mayor and MPD PR (the Star Tribune) is reporting a drop in violent crime WITH this so called historically low MPD staffing. So is effectiveness tied to staffing or not?
