If I had the chance, I'd relive that tournament all over again even if I knew from the very start that Messi was going to lose the final. The amount of happiness & dopamine those few weeks gave me is indescribable. The sport hadn't made me that happy in years.
Sure, Rashford can be frustrating to watch, just like a lot of footballers. And he ultimately wasn’t the player the club wanted moving forward.
But what I can’t allow is people trying to take away all his credit and paint him as a failure. I’ll die on the hill that he was a successful loan signing for Barca, especially considering how desperate they were to find a backup LW at the time.
He delivered fantastic output and kept his professionalism through and through, even when he wasn’t getting starting minutes.
I can’t speak for all Barca fans, but for myself: Thank you Rashford, and keep killing it in your next chapter.
Two men run a marathon. They keep swapping the lead for 42km. With 2km left, one pulls away and wins.
The other guy’s fans: “Yeah, but remember kilometer 17?”
That’s what the Messi vs Ronaldo debate sounds like in 2026.
This maybe a hot take, but I think what Messi has produced at this World Cup is the most impressive achievement of his entire career.
Yes, even above the 91 goals.
Messi is a dangerous player. If you watch that first goal again, you’ll notice he deliberately delayed the pass to Enzo until he had drawn every England player to himself. Only then did he release it. My God. It really is true that no one sees the game like he does.
I don’t think Messi being almost 40 is registering in people’s heads properly. Zidane was 34 in 2006, R9 was 38 in 2014, Dinho was 37 in 2018 lmaoooo BRUVVV
