@huel@CathyYoung63@asymmetricinfo Thanks for the clarification. I prefer the flavor of Soylent personally, but I've been doing Huel lately because Soylent seems to be having some supply problems, and I'm worried they may be going out of business altogether.
@JoyceCarolOates Like "Gone with the Wind," Clint Eastwood's "The Outlaw Josie Wales" also celebrates the South's "lost cause" myth. "Josie Wales" was written by a Klansman who was even more "rancidly racist." Both movies are great works of art but carry a toxic message.

@JoyceCarolOates One way the GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic fight obesity is by modifying the effects of dopamine, which is why they don't just help curb overeating but also other types of addiction including gambling, alcohol, smoking, etc.

@JoyceCarolOates Addiction simply entails neurotransmitters tied to learning/reward systems, such as dopamine. Those systems are designed to motivate behavior, and anyone can become an addict if those systems are overstimulated.

@ChrissieEvert I've always admired her for her comment that "I was never a prodigy" and for the discipline and hard work that got her to number one. Happy birthday to one of my heroes!
@CathyYoung63@asymmetricinfo Some Silicon Valley types came up with Soylent and Huel awhile ago, meals in a bottle that you just drink with no prep time needed. Some people have tried to live on 100% Soylent. I like it for breakfast a lot of times and sometimes have it as a replacement for other meals too.
@JoyceCarolOates Brooks and his first wife divorced four years before he married Anne Snyder, and he denies having an affair with her while he was married. I'm not a fan of David Brooks and his writings, but this is cheap-shot whataboutism.
@CathyYoung63@DAaronovitch Men should just punch him in the face, not because he's a bigger asshole to them but because he deserves it a thousand times over, and men (on average) would have the strength needed to deliver a better blow.
@DrNeilStone So you're saying Vance leaked this to Erdogan because that was the only way Vance could get Trump's ear? And somehow this covert plan to send a message from Vance to Erdogan to Trump has become public knowlege via an anonymous rumor? Sounds like a leaky theory to me.
@misraetel I work for a company that provides IT services to federal, state and local government agencies. I'd be willing to wager you good money that this won't happen. For starters, I think you've vastly underestimated the range of things that "government" does.
@allengarvin@HistoryBoomer Being good at politics is like being good at a lot of other things and includes being able to win despite your flaws. Biden had plenty of shortcomings, failures and losses along the way, but there are reasons why he survived and became president.
@Martina Look through some of this guy's other tweets, and it's obvious he's not credible. It's a melange of the usual "health influencer"/conspiracy theorist/anti-vaxxer bullshit. The Alzheimer's recovery story is an anecdote involving a single individual, with no research to support it.
@JoyceCarolOates It's been a long time since I saw it, and I don't remember it well (it didn't make much of an impression), but I did enjoy the "earlier, funnier movies" joke. I don't think it was a "parody" of Fellini/Bergman. It was more like Allen admired and was trying to emulate them.
@JoyceCarolOates I remember visiting a farm once and watching a cow hooked up to a milking machine, with a translucent tube carrying the milk from its udder. While I was watching, a brown blob passed through the tube and into the tank. And the farmer didn't think it was even unusual.
@paulg@realJeremyCarl After getting his degree in engineering from Princeton, he went on to found an architectural design firm -- not a billion-dollar startup, but a startup nevertheless that created jobs and provided services.

@paulg@realJeremyCarl The other thing that makes this bogus is the ridiculous assumption that immigrants who found billion-dollar startups are the only immigrants who make a positive contribution. One of my roommates at Princeton was a migrant farmworker from Mexico who grew up picking fruit.
