If you practiced saying and using one word from a Native language a week. You would know 52 words by the end of the year. 🫶🏽 Keep learning and don’t give up. Revitalize your language.
If a traumatized person knew how to tell you what they’re feeling, they would. If they knew how to explain their fears, they would. If they knew how to ask for what they need (or what those needs are) they would. This is where patience leads to peace & being held leads to healing
It is factual information that Indigenous People of Turtle island helped save this land. We were seen as equals on the battle field, but we’re treated far from equal upon returning home to the land once known as ours. #IndigenousVeteransDay
An estimated 7,000 Status “Indians” were enlisted in WW2 with an unknown number believed to be in the tens of thousands Métis and Inuit soldiers. It is said that indigenous soldiers who lost their lives were buried in unmarked graves and the number of lives lost is unknown.
Today is Indigenous Veterans Day.
In exchange for their service in the army they were stripped of their homes and rights upon return to this land. November 8th didn’t become Indigenous Veterans Day until 1994. It took 50 years after ww2 for our Indigenous Vets to be recognized
Today is Indigenous Veterans Day.
At the time of returning home from the war, Indigenous veterans were not allowed to be in any building that served alcohol meaning they were not allowed into the Legions that were setup to support and help all Veterans.
Today is Indigenous Veterans Day. Our veterans received inhumane treatment upon arriving home. Indigenous veterans were stripped of their “Indian Status” when they got back from the war and became “wards of the state.”

It's evident that this isn't about "keeping children in school" but Ford and Lecce's willful refusal to pay these vital workers at least a fair wage. The hypocrisy when Lecce states "they will do anything to keep children in school" demonstrates he is not fit for the position.
The approximate annual cost for the raise requested by CUPE is $264m.
The $200 per child bribe Lecce recently gave out cost around $365m.
The license plate renewal fee brought in approximately $1b each year.
@MmeKazemzadeh The only explanation that makes sense is that they WANT a big strike. They want to destabilize so they can claim that the union is a problem to their base, and can shoe in private sector replacements
@Mikesburg@MmeKazemzadeh Ford government also wants to redirect the anger at it about school closures and restrictions. Never mind that education workers had nothing to do with pandemic restrictions and closures. Never mind the government wasn’t interested in bargaining.
@SudburyPolice I was happy to see social media coverage of this. I was disappointed to see Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre wasnt acknowledged in your Facebook post as the staff played a role in the planning & carrying out a successful camp but also the camp was held on the Traditional land of SKHC
I’m so exhausted from doing all the portraits of the relations lost in the James Smith Cree Nation tragedy. It was a short turnaround for a lot of portraiture (5 days) and heavy on the heart. I hope my portraits make the families happy in this dark time. ❤️
