My brother is over 50, profoundly deaf and mute since birth, with complex intellectual and developmental disabilities—doctors in Ontario describe his cognitive level as similar to an infant’s, yet he’s in an adult body. I evacuated him from Afghanistan last year and now care for him full-time in Ontario, Canada with no government or external support.
