Madame Celeste Amarilla,
Held bilateral talks with President @HassanSMohamud of Somalia on economic ties, security and regional stability, anchored in trust and mutual respect.
Ethiopia and Somalia share more than borders, we share what is most precious to us: our people and common destiny!

A massive relief for the world—peace has no alternative! Glad to see a deal reached between the US & Iran. Now, all parties must stick to their commitments. Kudos to Pakistan and everyone who helped make this happen! 🕊️

🚨NEW:
Former Tigray regional president Gebru Asrat accuses the TPLF of collaborating with Ethiopia’s external enemies to destabilize the country, calling it an act of treachery.
The people of Ethiopia are an extraordinary and remarkable people. Other than the Creator, who can truly know and assess our people in their entirety? Through this year’s election, Ethiopians have once again shown the world that they are a people with a rich culture, deep patriotism, and the ability to safeguard the common good.
On this historic day:
* Citizens who were not intimidated by the cold and darkness of the night,
* Who were not deterred by the midday sun or sudden rain,
* Whom weddings, funerals, childbirth, and other social obligations did not prevent from participating,
* Who were not wearied by long lines,
* Whose physical disabilities did not stop them from casting their vote,
* Those whose illness and old age did not prevent from witnessing the hope of their country,
* Who were not exhausted by carrying their infant children; the future inheritors of the nation,
* And above all, whom the shouting and threats of enemies could not intimidate or stop;
The perseverance you demonstrated amid many challenges and hardships, against all odds, was a contribution made for democracy and for the very survival of the nation. For this, you deserve heartfelt gratitude.
It is a privilege to serve such a people. Therefore, may those who have been elected honor the trust placed in them and serve this people, with integrity and sincerity! A people who have paid a great price for the democratic system. May you be worthy of that responsibility.
Despite the challenges and those who wished to see us fail, the resilient people of Ethiopia have spoken. The massive voter turnout today shows our unbreakable commitment to our nation's destiny. The future of Ethiopia belongs to its people! 🇪🇹🗳️ #EthiopiaElections2026#Ethiopia
Just cast my ballot in Ethiopia's 7th general election today! 🇪🇹 Proud to exercise my civic duty and play a part in shaping our country's future. Let's make every voice count! #EthiopiaElections2026#CivicDuty#Ethiopia
Foreign Minister @GHessebon today received the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Waleed Elkhereiji, for discussions on bilateral relations and regional issues of common interest.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Gedion noted that Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia enjoy longstanding historical relations anchored in enduring people-to-people ties. He stated that, given the strong interconnectedness between the two countries, they share convergent views on many issues of mutual importance. He underscored the need to further strengthen the relationship for the benefit of the two countries. The Minister also emphasized the importance of safeguarding the wellbeing of Ethiopian citizens in Saudi Arabia and promoting the provision of legal employment opportunities for Ethiopian workers.
Eng. Waleed Elkhereiji, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for his part reiterated that Saudi Arabia highly values its longstanding historic relations with Ethiopia and its people. He also noted that legal labor migration is essential in ensuring safe employment opportunities for Ethiopian workers.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional peace and security issues, underscoring that dialogue remains the only viable means of finding political solutions to the various conflicts in the region.
I would like to thank all the commissioners who, over the past years, have patiently and professionally worked with a high standard of ethics to advance the national dialogue process and bring it to its current stage.
A culture of dialogue is extremely important for countries like Ethiopia. Building a strong civic culture also requires continuous practice of discussion and a mature spirit of mutual understanding. The process so far has demonstrated the great value of mutual listening at every level of our society. The process has reflected the views and discussion outcomes of more than 90 percent of Ethiopians across all corners of our country.
At this time, as the dialogue process, which carries significant national importance, transitions into its next phase aimed at producing tangible results, all stakeholders should contribute constructively and uphold a shared, firm commitment to ensuring peace, unity, and lasting stability for our country.
Ethiopia and United States of America today signed a Bilateral Structured Dialogue (BSD) Framework in Washington, D.C. aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries, while expanding opportunities for cooperation on bilateral, regional, and other issues of mutual interest.
The Framework was signed by Gedion Timothewos, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and T.H. Allison Hooker, Under Secretary for Political Affairs, on behalf of the United States.
The Bilateral Structured Dialogue Framework covers three key areas of cooperation: economic prosperity, trade and investment; defense and security cooperation; and regional peace and stability. It seeks to enhance economic and commercial ties through expanded trade and investment, strengthen security cooperation in support of mutual interests, and advance coordination on regional peace and security issues.
Met with Ethiopian Foreign Minister @GHessebon today to discuss expanding our security partnership and increasing commercial opportunities between our two nations.
Ethiopia rejects Sudan's accusations over Khartoum drone strikes
Ethiopia rejected Sudan’s claims that it was involved in drone strikes on Khartoum International Airport, calling the allegations baseless.
The rise of #Xenophobia in South Africa is a crisis. Targeting fellow Africans over "stolen jobs" ignores the systemic inequality left by history. We are stronger together, not divided.

I attended and shared my thoughts at a consultative forum organized under the theme 'Social Development for Nation Building,' where major achievements in the social sector over the past years were presented.
Although social sector development, unlike other physical infrastructures does not yield immediate or tangible results, it lays a sustainable and critical foundation for the nation.
Despite current challenges, Ethiopia is being built at a rapid pace, faster than many realize. Even with our resource limitations, there is no social sector where improvement has not been attempted. However, since much work remains to translate our set goals into practice and ensure they achieve their purpose, we must stand together. Just as one hand cannot clap alone, the community must join in as a stakeholder alongside the government’s initiatives.
Flying between African cities forces many travelers to transit outside the continent, through London, Paris or Dubai. But a $12.5 billion airport under construction in Ethiopia could help change that. https://t.co/JhvEkPkWGO
