@annbauerwriter@storyaliz Ok I'm keeping Brothers K on my LR shelf just to impress people then 😉
Yes, Of Mice and Men is great but disturbing. Not sure I want to go there again. Like 1984 or Animal Farm.
Bronte?
I felt what you describe in your Substack (after Covid, my reading was just ....different).
So I started buying classics to get me back (not yet reading):
The Brothers Karamazov (seems to be a thing now)
Emma (read years ago and loved)
The Great Gatsby (same)
A Farewell to Arms (no recall at all)
Middlemarch (hated but I've heard my adult self could like it)
Sense and Sensibility (loved)
When confronted with the intimate reality of my own mortality, I hope to face it with the same profound, godly grace that Former U.S. Senator Ben Sasse has displayed.
@GreentreeHugh@walterkirn I keep my thoughts to myself, which is fine.
What I'm very sad about is the latter.
I had no idea how uninformed some of the people I used to respect are.

@walterkirn I have my tiny grandchildren (5,3 and 1) living with us for a couple of months.
Joy and freedom and innocence is a wonderful thing to live with,
My mayor @spencerpratt with the greatest campaign music video I have ever seen! This song is now stuck in my head! For those who don’t know me, I literally got into politics by becoming the homeless vigilante of Los Angeles, cleaning up the streets and getting rid of bums because my mayor did nothing. I did not want to give up on this city. I will do whatever I can to get Spencer elected and make Los Angeles glam again.
When Markwayne Mullin was 20 his dad's health took a turn. He dropped out of college to run the family business. He built it from 6 people into a multimillion dollar HVAC company with 150+ employees.
He's a pillar of his community, and @jimmykimmel can't even tell a funny joke.

Mormon Women for Ethical Government is a radical-leftist organization that has nothing to do with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or its teachings, even though the name implies otherwise
Thank you, @DataRepublican, for pointing this out and bringing receipts
