I've struggled all day with what to post in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man who was MURDERED for the same beliefs that America has whitewashed and now shamelessly and ceremonially quotes every year on this holiday.
Don't post the quotes if you're not committed to discovering, sitting with, and dismantling your own unconscious biases that harm people every day, regardless of your racial and ethic identity.

Too often, this scripture is used in a way that bypasses or justifies toxic behavior. But love and prayer are not tools of acquiesce, but rather tools of power. You love your enemies because God gives you the power to live not seeking vengeance because vengeance belongs to Him.
And that same love restrains you from returning what they have given you. That love embodies compassion accountability, boundaries, and justice. You pray for your enemies because the harvest of wrong they have sown is more than what they expect.
