Great to hear that Shetland’s own Jen Stout is off to the USA - catch her and her great book ‘Night Train to Odesa’. JD Vance hasn’t been to Ukraine, but Jen sure has 🙂
Big news: Night Train to Odesa has a US tour coming up.
First few dates (NYC, Boston, DC) up on my website now, but more to come (west coast, Chicago, Detroit) as we confirm them.
Important time to be sharing Ukrainian stories in the US, I think..

Yes, libraries are dangerous! They are equalisers, streetcorner universities for the common man. They play a vital role in learning, offering free resources to all equally, from early literacy to citizenship, democracy, digital skills, and careers...... @amlibraries#libraries
We’ve been quieter on here lately because we’re…. exploring other environments shall we say!
They say that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side… but the sky is certainly bluer! 😉🩵💙

Remember Encyclopedia Britannica? The set on our shelves might be a *little* out of date (what's 22 years between friends? 🙂) but our members can use the online one, in three versions -Junior, Student and adult.

Can't believe anything you hear or see anymore? Your library can help you find reliable information. It might still be hard to believe though!

Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) shows us where prejudice can lead when it is normalised and encouraged.
Today, we remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. We also commemorate the millions more people murdered through the Nazi persecution of other groups, and in the more recent genocides recognised by the UK government, and the genocide in Darfur.
Prejudice has not ended and there is much to do to create a better future.

We were contacted this morning from a rather smug @_Stewart_Bain (formerly of @OrkneyLibrary 😒) asking for our reaction to the news that @AnnCleeves is publishing a new Jimmy Perez novel, set in ORKNEY.
