@BrandonBoivcoz@Didierbangala@BellegardeSZN@tragic_endings_ Israel has caused the downfall of western military supremacy so I think Africa has an even more turbulent but hopeful future in store. As for those leaders, they’ll decide whether to continue being a resource outpost for the world or develop autonomy and develop their societies.
The idea that queer ppl have have more institutionalised power than black ppl is patently absurd
There are literally entire countries were black ppl are the majority
“Uwu we have no power to institutionalize homophobia 🥺”
You can’t be the eternal small bean
@BrandonBoivcoz@uranust7@tragic_endings_ Yeah but I already said I’m not excusing it, I’m correcting it. Just because it’s “open knowledge” doesn’t make it correct. The only people who benefit from me believing that bullshit is Mossad and the CIA
@BrandonBoivcoz@uranust7@tragic_endings_ I think our discussion was productive. I don’t disagree that we have to tackle homophobia, but to do so I think it’s meaningful that we understand how bigotry forms so we can correct it at the root. Calling black people uniquely homophonic isn’t “tackling homophobia”.
@BrandonBoivcoz@uranust7@tragic_endings_ From my experience, If u want productive dialogue you have to understand where the other party is coming from. I didn’t say not to hold them accountable but saying “Black People are more homophobic” is reductive at best, a lie at worst, and won’t advance our community at all
@BrandonBoivcoz@uranust7@tragic_endings_ I’ll give you my answer: most wouldn’t be able to make sense their current material conditions without believing that there’s something better in the afterlife.
But ultimately, if you actually believe black people have a special homophobe gene then there’s not much I can say.
@BrandonBoivcoz@uranust7@tragic_endings_ But to you Black people must be inherently homophobic or something? Black people aren’t any more or less homophobic as any other group, that’s the white supremacist in you talking.
@BrandonBoivcoz@uranust7@tragic_endings_ 1.) Religion plays a part for Africans, rich or not (which is why I said PROPER education)
2.) Black America is at the bottom of every socioeconomic metric so it’s applicable, and has little to no institutional power. America’s anti-queer laws are written by white men.
@BrandonBoivcoz@uranust7@tragic_endings_ This was your final response? My point is very simple; When a population is fed, sheltered and properly educated it is much clearer for them to then tackle social inequities that exist. These countries aren’t designed for that, they are designed for extraction.
@SgtPepperNZ@tragic_endings_ I think you underestimate the destabilizing effect 4 years can have but that’s not my point. My point is that institutional/legal homophobia is a byproduct of colonial expansion. Europeans enforced strict patriarchal relations via primogeniture, law, and religious institutions.
@Didierbangala@BellegardeSZN@tragic_endings_ Our governments have masters. As much as African leaders are at fault Africa doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s difficult to develop socially and culturally while actively being politically and economically dominated. That’s just a fact.
@Uzi09_23@Whytyler_why I must have misunderstood you initially, yeah many western/white leftists struggle to acknowledge their upholding of white supremacist values
@uranust7@tragic_endings_ I’m not, but it’s difficult to develop socially and culturally while actively being politically and economically dominated. That’s just a fact.
@Uzi09_23@Whytyler_why How do you come to this conclusion? Anti-Blackness/Africa is foundational to global capitalist hegemony. That’s the only way to justify brutal exploitation and imperialism. America is not a post-racial society.
A brief guide for int'l Black folks to identify a right-wing FBA/ADOS bot:
1) If they have an American flag in their bio, block them.
2) Search their tweets for keyword "tethers". If they have called people tethers, block them.
Those two steps will eliminate 90% of this shit.
