I sat down with Susannah Cahalan —you probably know her from Brain on Fire, the memoir that became a Netflix movie. 📺
She’s back with a new book, The Acid Queen, telling the story of the forgotten icon of the psychedelic era, and Timothy Leary’s better half.
Maybe this is just the part where we must adapt of be left behind. Or do we hold on tightly to craft and legacy?
I spoke to AI professional Matt Konwiser in the latest episode of Shifting Perceptions.

Is the value of real music and art made by actual humans with skills vanishing? Do people care about the process? Do people care about technique and skill development?
Since the early 20th century, we’ve seen the level of acceptable effort watered down (for better or worse?)
🧵
Massive effort has been traded for what’s the least we can get away with.
I see the good and the bad in this. I love using AI as much as anyone. But I also am observing how the value of creative people, especially artists is being diminished.
But what happens when the next “Come As You Are” or “Let It Be” was made by AI? Are listeners going to care about the struggle and process? Will people care if the artist is an avatar that never ages and not a human?
What do you think?
Host: @jayalders
Career artists and creatives are royally F*%K’D.
Overly dramatic? Maybe. But one thing is for certain…the creative landscape and process will never, ever be the same again.
🧵
I think a lot of the magic has been sucked dry and the value of true artistry is going to be lost or at least watered down to where the average person loses appreciation.
It’s still early. So music and art isn’t there…yet
As I talk about here, I’m saddened and confused on where this leaves me as an artist, but I’m also incredibly optimistic and excited about the benefits of humanity that this could bring, if it doesn’t destroy us first.

AI…are we being saved or screwed?
Being an artist, a father, tech nerd and someone who default to thoughts of what could go wrong, I was really excited to talk to Matt Konwiser.
🧵
Where do you stand on this?
Do you trust your doctor fully? Or do you have doubts and seek second opinions and do your own research?

Mike talks about vaccines, pharma, flu shots and what some would consider triggering topics, but everything he spoke about is backed by clinical data, and scientific evidence.
But before becoming a parent, I never knew how the standard practice is to poke, prod, slice and prod unless the parents intervene.
This clip is from a conversation I had with Dr Mike Schwartz.
What is your opinion?

Many first time parents don’t realize how invasive and intense the process can be after a child comes into the world.
Whatever your stance on big pharma, vaccines, & medications there is an angle to this that crosses over into the realms of affecting a baby’s emotional state.
Even if you are all for injecting your baby with every vaccine and doing all the things, I’ll never be for doing that within minutes, or a handful of days of a child’s entrance into this world.
That said, obviously it’s up to every parent. These are personal decisions to make.
