There is a new now on the horizon, and I fully intend to exceed the old now and embrace the new one.
Now is now. I get to choose. You get to choose. We get to choose.
I believe there is surviving or thriving. I install what serves thriving. Serving others well begins with me and that is thriving.
I needed help to make that shift. It’s okay if you do too.
It begins with believing that thriving is part of the plan.
Are you thriving?
Imagine a reality where everyone is.
I keep using the word RISING.
Here’s what I mean by it.
R — Reveal what is true.
See clearly. Name reality without distortion, avoidance, blame, or prosecution. The old served its purpose.
I — Install what serves.
Choose what moves you toward who you are becoming. Who you are called to be.
S — Strengthen it through practice.
Repeat it. Train it. Build capacity. Let the new response become more available than the old one.
E — Execute with intention.
Act deliberately. Follow through. Live what you know. What you are learning. What your soul knows. Walk with purpose, not permission.
This is what I mean when I say:
Keep RISING. 🔥
Some things get written on the board without our permission.
Other people. Circumstances. Loss. Mistakes. The past.
We don't get to erase all of it.
But the marker is still in our hand.
What we write next is ours.
The words? In our soul.
What beautiful expression this is. Poetic connection to things that are a part of my journey. I was the guy and felt exactly like you describe. I have also recently felt a person like you creating distance between us for honorable reasons. That has been a struggle amd forced me to show up for myeslf the way she did. I've always been quick to show up for others that way but I'm learning how to love me in the process too.
And much more that you shared landed too.
You are a very talented writer. Thank you for sharing your gift 😌🙏
Amazing post. Very well said. It lands for me. All of it. I love your evolving perspective.
Reinventing, rising, evolving... in real time, fullly open and transparent. Authentic. Vulnerable with no "need seeking" Humility. That is strength to me and is what transformational growth looks like.
So much of what you shared here resonates and mirrors exactly how I feel. Circumstances, professional and personal, have also led me to the same place. I decided to walk with purpose, not permission. Some like what that looks like and others don't. So what.
Keep being you and keep embracing your evolution. Keep walking YOUR way! I KNOW you will! Way to take your foot off the brakes!
👊😎
Beautiful and much needed. My soul is thirsty. Seated outside, feeling the pain of a recent surgery (#12) embracing it by not taking anything to numb it, the reason, not apparent. Body being forced to stop moving without my approval. Feeling pain that no longer hurts. Everything has been stripped away. Exposed. Grateful. Confused. Lonely. Longing. The bitter cold took it's bite. Then warmth that soothed but left, bit harder it seems. I'm right where I'm supposed to be. My soul is thirsty. Your words, quenching.
Learning to trust that you can show up for yourself and no longer have concern for how others will perceive and react/ respond. (Most people seem to react... to the script playing in their head) Lacking full heart expression and all that comes with it. It's simple "This is what it looks like when I show up for myself in this situation" No audition for sainthood or conformity to another's ego architecture or social construct of the collective. Just authentic me, trusting that I will show up for me. Under any circumstance. Question before correction. Investigation before prosecution. I am SAFETY. 🙂
👏👏 cannot wait to see this expression of you. And enage.
Woke up this morning (eve before my next surgery) feeling BLESSED so like any kind, grateful soul, laid still and said thank you! Sat up, reached for phone to check the time and sure enough another wink. 4:44am. BIG smile was my reaction and CALM. 😃😌
What am I feeling?
What am I thinking?
What am I assuming?
What is activating me?
What pattern am I repeating?
What is actually true?
What choice do I have here?
Without awareness, people mostly react.
With awareness, they can choose.
Seems like we are on the same wavelength at this very hour. Cheers!
Some around me are yo yo-ing. Me, I'm enjoying the awareness. Embracing the bubbling up of emotions. Data from my nervous system. I've learned to discern what is mine and that of others. What to carry and what to leave for others to learn from. Hopefully. Heal. Grow.
Kids and animals are always calm around me. They feel it. Always have.
I sit on my front porch taking it all in. The family of squirrels that has breakfast every morning. Humming birds dropping by for a visit. A hawk perched on a fence near me. Odd, I thought. Seems risky in her world. Then it hit me. That hawk, one of God's created, has everything she (yep, she seemed like a she to me) needs to thrive. Just sitting there, she has no doubts about it. Confident enough to be at almost ground level, she KNOWS she will thrive. No pep talk required. Just a knowing. No need for approval. Self worth fully intact when just being. But, when it's time to move? She taps into her Hawk with precision, grace, and swiftness. She ascends. She soars. And we she needs to strike, all that is required is an effortlessly movement into performance mode. I learned from the Hawk. I can stop seeking approval through my role performance too. Just being is thriving on it's own. Breathe. Remember. Who and whose you are.
Yesterday, one of the squirrel family slowly walked right to me. Within 18 inches. He moved with intention and confidence. He knew he was OK. I sat perfectly still, mindful of my breath, body, and the blessing of the moment.
Noticing. Everything. Beautiful.
Thank you for the introduction Mr. squirrel. You and your family enjoy your breakfast now!
The hawk? She was 100 feet from the breakfast buffet... the squirrels ate in peace.
Baby Adeline (a.k.a. Baby Girl) came for a visit too! What a great day!
