Tomorrow, we kick off the Fisherman's Art Workshop and Civic Engagement in collaboration with @CosterOjwang, @watendawili and @WillisRaburu. This will be a civic space where we use art, as a mirror of our society, to deliberate on not just where our country is, but which direction we want it to head in, and how we can all collectively ensure we achieve that vision.
We welcome all talented, passionate Kenyans in and around Bondo to join this space and take part in this conversation. This is the start of civic education done differently; through the universal language of humanity.

People have learned a few psychological buzzwords on social media, like "gaslighting," "narcissist," "boundaries," and "toxic", and now they use them to run away from normal human conflict. Sometimes your partner isn't a "toxic narcissist violating your boundaries"; sometimes they are just annoyed, having a bad day, and you are actually the one who was wrong. We have weaponized therapy language to ensure we never have to apologize or compromise.
One of the most disheartening things for me is encountering patients whose mental health woes have a primarily social aetiology. How do I help someone who’s sniffing glue because it reduces their appetite & helps them cope with having no food to eat?
Today we celebrate the women who fought for the freedoms many take for granted; right to work, to earn, to choose our path, & to live life on our own terms & to the young girls redefining what it means to be a woman beyond the expectations placed on them💪🏽

It’s actually good to fail astronomically at least once in your life. It will humble you, shock your system, and strip away the illusion that everything must always go right. Once you’ve survived something that shakes you to your core, the fear around failing loses its power.
💡A game changer for pneumonia care!
The Steroids in Pneumonia (SONIA) trial led by @Shindeh and @TonyEtyang shows that adding low dose steroids to standard antibiotics could be a low-cost way to reduce pneumonia deaths and improve survival in resource-limited settings. This large multicentre pneumonia trial, conducted across 18 public hospitals in Kenya showed a significant reduction in 30-day mortality with low-dose glucocorticoids versus standard care providing vital evidence to inform global clinical guidelines strengthening pneumonia care.
