Stanley and his daughter Katharina mingling at the Art in Action Arts Fair, where Christiane and Katharina would regularly exhibit their work.

Stanley’s wife and celebrated artist Christiane would later establish the Childwickbury Arts Fair at the family's estate, offering the space for emerging artists to sell and exhibit their work.

Shelley Duvall, legendary character actor, and The Shining’s extraordinary Wendy Torrance has died at the age of 75. Shelley’s career was varied and long.

Despite being dogged with exaggerations of her treatment on set, Shelley was always vocal about her experience filming The Shining saying she “wouldn’t trade it for anything” because “working with loveable Stanley was a fascinating learning experience.”

Our thoughts are with Shelley’s friends and family.

The Elstree Project are very sad to confirm the passing of Shelley Duvall, who filmed her iconic role of Wendy Torrance in Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” at Elstree Studios in 1978-79.

RIP to the truly iconic Shelley Duvall, who burned up the screen in many funny, intense and idiosyncratic roles. I especially loved her in ‘McCabe & Mrs Miller’, ‘Thieves Like Us’, ‘Nashville’, the extraordinary ‘Three Women’, ‘Annie Hall’, ‘Time Bandits’, ‘Roxanne’, her Olive Oyl in ‘Popeye’ (best comic book casting ever?) and, of course, her fierce, unforgettable performance as Wendy Torrance in ‘The Shining’. Whatever horrors are conjured up in that film, its power stands and falls on Duvall’s terrified reactions. What an incredible screen presence she was.
