@HollytheOT Of course go for it. The stress of the targets and pressure CAMHS put in place triggered our daughter’s other health condition, she was off school for 6 days and didn’t recover for two months.

@HollytheOT The private therapist has a no pressure, no targets, sensory drive approach who repaired the damage CAMHS had done.

@HollytheOT The best thing our CAMHS did was source support from a charity who had funding to pay for private therapists that weren’t limited by the NHS’ constrained view of what therapy had to be. CAMHS caused our daughter significant trauma by their lack of flexibility and understanding.

@PookyH I’m not sure I could advise exactly when to stop but as other have said we carried on too long and are now 1 year into recovery and still won’t go anywhere near anything that looks like learning. Now recovery is happening the worst damage happened way before I thought.

This is exactly our experience. We won’t do mediation again and don’t recommend it to our parents.

One major missed opportunity in #send is #mediation.
9/10 I advise parents not 2 bother bcos;
1. LAs dont send anyone 2 mediation;
2. LA person attending isnt allowed 2 make a decision;
3. LA person attending is TOLD to refuse; and/or
4. LA delay
