Something extremely important from Mushoku Tensei that the anime decided to completely ignore is Battle Aura, known as Touki.
Touki is basically like the Ki from Dragon Ball, but in the Mushoku Tensei universe. Essentially, it is an energy that surrounds people who are warriors and that they can use to defend themselves or attack with greater force.
One huge problem Rudeus has is that he does not possess Touki. Even when he trains at Badigadi’s university, he tries different ways to obtain Touki, but he is unsuccessful.
During this attack that Elinalise made against Atofe, if you look closely, she attacked her directly in the neck, which was exposed, but she was unable to hurt her. This is because, in order to damage Atofe or Badigadi, an attack of at least King-class level is required.
That is why, when Nina attacks Badigadi at the University, she barely manages to scratch him. And that is why, when Nina sees Rudeus defeat Badigadi with a single attack, she understands the mage’s immense power. For him to have been able to hurt the Demon King in that way means that his attacks are at least Emperor-class level…
And in order to hurt Orsted, whose Touki is vastly more powerful than anyone else’s in Mushoku Tensei—known as the Dragon God’s Sacred Aura—an attack close to God-class level is required. That is why so much importance is placed on the fact that Rudeus was able to injure Orsted.
Spoiler: Laplace’s Demon God side also did not have Touki.
This is THE most anticipated arc of ANYTHING I’ve ever experienced. It’s finally here after so many years.
To quote the author of Unnamed Memory: “It will change how you see the world”.
Seven months after its Japanese release, when all the major plot points have been spoiled, the hype has died down, and all the Gunpla have sold out, I'm finally going to see it.
