Commercially who now wants to be associated with this fiasco? Even the Sun is too centrist to get involved in a deal to save it. It’s a no go. The posts here are as fair comment as can be given circumstances. Every action has a reaction. Sometimes it’s not just woke you go broke.

So it really boils down to accountability not free speech. You cannot racially abuse anyone on this platform or others in what is effectively hate-speech. That is not promoting free thinking right wing ideology even for Talk which is why they acted.

Regardless of what the endless social media support echo chamber says Talk’s listening figures were already diminishing and hugely overshadowed by GB News and LBC. Again that is down to failed management there. The party is over. There is no bail-out and no future.

Mike has a lot of support and is a seasoned journalist and a good broadcaster. But that doesn’t excuse what he posted in the way he did but it’s not the first such post that’s been deliberately offensive. Management failure created these circumstances to thrive and culpable.

Mike will now set up in the independent space and the success remains to be seen. The void that News UK left for so long has created nothing but misinformation. It’s another error of judgement to add to the ever growing list of a place clearly in crisis as much as the government.

There are many factors to this and what you believe depends where you consume. But ultimately it’s only really a story of failure. Mike is just the catalyst and the station is now a shambles and a laughing stock more than it ever was before. As toxic as the NOTW.

So ultimately there should also be management casualties from this. The same guy that oversaw the failure of Talk TV at a loss of nearly £200 million that almost brought the whole lot down. Now this that will surely see the end of Talk full stop. How can he remain in a job?

The same gutless management who in one case - Dennie Morris - refused to do the sacking he was responsible for leaving it to a more senior executive when it was his job. Why? Because he was a mate not a boss creating the very conditions for this to thrive. It was a matter of time

So because you work for an opinion station you get more free speech than others? Do you think someone working for a council listing that would also not be sacked? Where is the difference? It was a stupid thing to do on the basis of cosying up to management who were seen as mates.

Like it or not this is not a free for all and the organisation is not run by presenters or listeners. There are policies and procedures any responsible company will uphold and that is what’s happened here. Imagine posting that if you worked for a council or the NHS??

If you were entirely innocent you’d want to clear your name not refuse to co-operate in the process that would clear you. So the guilt proved itself in the end. As for presenters not supporting they are also under contract and policies by the organisation they are employed by.

Mike disputed he made the post that brought his employer into disrepute - a sackable offence and was offered the chance to clear his name by proving independently that it was a hack. That’s easily done these days. He refused and not engaging with process only leads to one outcome

Well there we have it. Mike Graham gone from Talk as expected. I’ve honestly though never endured so much misunderstanding over an action. The post was racist. That’s not opinion. Mike was employed by an organisation that has policies applying to all. And that includes disrepute.

It’s now been claimed that the previous post was a hack. Which leaves a couple of questions. Why no apology on the show that day? Why so long for an apology? Simple answer to me seems to be it was being written up by the press office all day and took ages to get signed off. 🤔
