There are moments in life that you remember clearly,

but cannot completely explain.

For me, one happened at Surya Kund in 2021.

It was my first Mahashivratri after losing my parents during the pandemic.

I had come to Isha for the Grace of Yoga program. I wanted to make the most of being in my Guru's presence.

On the second day, all the male participants were asked to assemble at Surya Kund for a process with Sadhguru.

I was a little late.

I had stayed back to do my Shoonya meditation.

When I arrived, everyone had already gathered and I found myself at the front.

As I stood there waiting, I suddenly felt a very strong presence of my father.

I looked around.

Then Sadhguru walked past me.

He was wearing an angavastram, the way my father would dress during his spiritual practices, with his shoulders bare.

For a moment, I didn't see Sadhguru.

I saw my father.

Something in me simply recognized him.

After the process, everyone entered the Kund.

I had imagined I would change before getting into the water.

But everyone simply went in.

So I followed.

The experience in the water was beyond anything I can put into words.

And when I looked at Sadhguru, for a moment he appeared to me like the whole universe.

It reminded me of Krishna revealing his Vishwaroopa to Arjuna.

I don't claim to understand what happened that day.

I only know what I experienced.

And something changed after that program.

My life took an unexpected turn.

I met my future wife.

Eventually, we got married at the Ashram.

Looking back, that day holds a very special place in my journey.

My father was the one who first brought meditation into my life.

Years later, in a moment I cannot fully explain, I felt that same presence through my Guru.

That was the moment Guru became Father.

On Sadhguru's birthday, I offer my reverence and gratitude.

For the practices.

For the possibilities.

For the experiences I understand.

And for the many I still don't.

Today, on Sadhguru’s birthday, I want to begin something personal.

For years, I have heard the metaphor of a Guru’s presence being like the Sun.

The Sun does not choose which flower should bloom.

It simply shines.

Two plants may stand beneath the same Sun.
One blossoms.
One struggles.
Perhaps the difference is not in the sunlight.
Perhaps it is in the soil.

What we nourish.
What we remove.
What we allow to grow.

That thought has stayed with me.

So from September 3 to September 23, I want to share 21 experiences from my own journey.
From the meditation my father introduced me to...
To the years I lost myself in the race...

To finding my Guru...

To the practices that slowly began transforming me.

I am not sharing this as someone who has arrived.

I am sharing it as someone who is still walking.

Still seeking.
Still practicing.
Still becoming receptive.

As someone who had also paid to travel to Kailash with Isha, sat in those jeeps, and felt the thin air, I want to clear the air a bit. Let me also be equally plain about what happened this month, because the facts don't support the story you're building on them Mr. @anbu .

On August 26, a glacier failed near Langtang Lirung with enough force to register as an earthquake on seismometers. Witnesses mistook it for a bombing. It sent ice, rock, and debris down the valley in minutes, and it did not check anyone's itinerary or faith on the way.

More than nine hundred people are dead across Nepal, thousands are missing, and the dead include tourists and pilgrims of every nationality and religion.

This was not a pilgrimage that went wrong. It was a regional catastrophe, and one group of pilgrims happened to be standing at the border at the exact wrong minute.

You want to hold a man responsible for that. But notice what you're actually asking.

A commitment to get pilgrims safely to Kailash and back is an operational promise. It is about acclimatisation, medical support, sequencing, choosing safer routes, and by your own account those logistics were run well.

A glacier collapse of seismic magnitude is not in that category. No operator on earth "manages" that away.

Blurring the two, treating competent logistics as if it were a guarantee against physics, is the sleight of hand your whole post rests on.

And if this were about a leader shielding himself while exposing his followers, the timing and facts refute it. Another group that included Sadhguru was due at that same crossing a day later. He was on the same road, in the same window.

And when the Indian government pressed him to fly out to safety, he refused, choosing instead to travel by road toward the disaster site itself, to support the rescue effort and help open a land route for the hundreds of pilgrims still stranded in Tibet.

Whatever else you believe, that is not a man standing safely apart.

On your own near-death at Manasarovar: I'm glad you came home. But you say what brought you back was medicine and descent. That is the safety system doing exactly what it's for, that is, getting a person off the mountain and to care. That isn't evidence the arrangement failed you. It's evidence that it actually worked.

Even granting that the language of grace and protection has been used over the years, here is what that language does not do: it does not make attending voluntary against a person's will, and it does not exempt anyone from the weather. Adults choose this pilgrimage knowing the Himalaya is the Himalaya.

What is owed to the families right now is not a debate about hidden dimensions, and this isn't a debate about business models either.

It is search, rescue, and honest information. That is what is actually happening: appeals to the Chinese authorities for access to the site, coordination with embassies and ministries, families being contacted directly, and standing in solidarity with them for their unfortunate loss - which Isha has been doing.

The mountain does not keep promises. Neither of us disputes that. But turning a glacier's collapse into one man's broken vow isn't judgment. It's classic blame game at the time of grief, searching for someone to be held accountable and settling on the wrong name.

The $48.7M cited is the US entity’s 2024 IRS filing. It cannot simply be presented as the Indian Foundation’s income. Also, tax-exempt ≠ no reporting. US filing is publicly available.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Sadhguru this shaken. Watching him speak about those still missing from the Kailash Yatra is heartbreaking. We stand with you, my beloved Guruji.

The Nepal–Tibet floods are truly horrific. My deepest condolences to every family that has lost someone, and my prayers are with those still waiting for news of their loved ones.

Please show compassion in what you share online. Some videos show people in their final moments. They were someone’s mother, father, sister, brother, son or daughter. Their families should never have to discover or relive their loss through social media.

Let dignity come before views and forwards.

This tragedy has also shaken me personally. My parents were meant to undertake this yatra but cancelled at the last minute.
